Value City is going out of business. More of my clothes have come from there than anywhere else, except maybe Goodwill. It was where we went shopping for back-to-school clothes when I was a child, etc. etc. It's a strange mix of cheap clothes, mid-quality clothes, and remnant, overstocked, or "irregular" designer stuff. For about 2 years, I regularly bought clothes there and resold them on eBay or at festivals, for at least double what I paid for them.
Because the whole store was on sale, I went there Wednesday, and got post-Christmas presents for Matthew and Aaron, stuff they needed anyway, i.e., clothes: got a cuddly long-sleeved thermal shirt for each brother in "his" color (Matthew olive green, Aaron black), a soft blue shirt for Aaron with a cool heraldic-looking design on it, a beautiful pumpkin-colored turtleneck for Matthew (the color looks wonderful on him, with his dark blond hair, green eyes, and reddish beard), and also for Matthew, a pretty blue cotton short-sleeved shirt for summer, and a pair of boxer shorts in the softest fabric and prettiest color, a vibrant leaf green. All that? Was $35.
And yes, I got myself something too, a big medieval-looking necklace with emerald green stones making an equal-armed cross, on a dark metal chain. $9.
Yeah, I will miss Value City.
