well, here we are (aren't we now)
been chuggin' along, like any good little choo-choo train knows how to do . . .
i have a job (gasp!) from 10-4 but monday is my birthday, so that's one less day spent stacking and folding mounds of hot shirts (not that isn't pleasant on cold autumn mornings)
one great thing about working every morning is passing under an enormous maple tree. if you know anything about maples, it's that they have spectacular foliage in the fall. every day it is more orange. and every morning manages to present a bright blue backdrop for it. other than that, i walk through the backyards of student housing, which is never a pretty (or particularly pleasant-smelling) experience.
why am i flying half-way around the world? people have been asking me why i'm going and i really . . i say "because it's there" but with the money and time and effort and all going into it, even i would expect a better answer than that. because it's a challenge. a rite of passage?
because i get to drink a bottle of whiskey and make a blanket-tent over my seat on the ride there? 20 hours is a serious chunk of time. time enough to crash down into the depths of the pacific ocean after my plane is hit by lightning . . .
i'm having a birthday/farewell party tomorrow night mostly to say bye to everyone . . just in case. so again, just in case - i hope that anyone who reads this has a marvelous life and realizes what a gift it is to be alive and we should all get our heads unstuck from way up our ego-clinging asses and smile every day and look people in the eye and say hello when you pass them on the street instead of lowering your head and eyes and cowering as if we were afraid to face other humans. not that we don't have reason to. but it's all in our minds. silly, convoluted minds. maybe someday we'll collectively recognize our potential. or just be happy. ('just', haha)
so anywho . . . .take care, all of you. good care. of yourselves and each other and every thing.
and if i do come back in one piece, i will celebrate like mad!
