Baby's first christmas

Haven't had a chance to update on our holiday yet..it has been a bit rough.

Christmas eve was celebrated at the annual Mead family gathering (Russell's mom's parents host it every year). This year there were 42 people (including 3 new babies) in a leisureville house, aka how the hell did we fit everyone? By the end of the night we were all wiping sweat from our faces. Russ seemed to know presents were coming, cause he refused to nap the whole day, then passes out cold while I was changing him for the party. He woke up as soon as we got there, for family pictures, stayed up through dinner only to pass out in Russell's arms during the Santa walk (every year all the grandkids, and now great grandkids, walk around the neighborhood looking for Santa while the adults pile presents under the tree so when the kids come back they can say "You just missed Santa, look at all the presents he brought"). He slept right through presents so we saved them for christmas morning. He made out like a bandit getting lots of books and toys. We also got a nice present in the form of an awesome butchers block cutting board engraved with our last name and the year we were married.

Christmas morning was nice. Russ slept until 7am. We got up, had some coffee and helped him open up all his presents. Russell got me a can crusher so we can make some money of off our recycling (every time we put out our recycling, someone comes by and grabs all the cans, figured we shouldn't be throwing money away). I got him a tiny screwdriver set (perfect for working on computers) and a remote control helicopter that he has been playing with until it just about broke ;)

We then went to my mom's house for christmas breakfast and more presents. From her I got a charm bracelet that uses troll beads instead of dangly charms (better, I think, so as not to lose them). She also got me 2 charms for it, one that says family and the other a baby shoe.  More baby books and toys (what am I to do with all the toys?!) Hung out for a bit then headed over to Rusty and Karen's house. On the way over, I started getting a headache, but figured I would just get some aspirin and it would be fine. About an hour after we arrived at his parents house, my headache morphed into a fullblown migraine. It didn't help that the baby was also refusing to take a nap again, so he was also super fussy. His parents got us a new set of towels and his dad handmade a high chair for Russ. He still needs to add some straps so Russ can't slide out, but it was thoroughly enjoyed (currently, I have had the baby in his carseat sitting up in the bassinet in order to feed him his solids, can't wait to get the highchair over here).

So yeah, fullblown migraine and a fussy baby. I took him into the back room and tried to get him calm enough to at least lay down. Russell came back to check on us and I burst into tears, frustrated with mr. fuss and feeling like my head was about to explode and that I was going to throw up any second. Amazingly, after I cried for a minute, my head felt just good enough to be able to eat some food but we didn't stay much longer.

Monday I was still recovering from the migraine, but Russell had off of work for the holiday so it wasn't as bad as it has been in the past. He was also able to work from home yesterday to help me out with the uberfuss.

And now a few pics of the festivities...

Looking for Santa

There is actually a floor under that pile.

He tried so hard to stay awake.

Only interested in the paper.
