Today's Alex's Lemonade Stand for Pediatric Cancer was AMAZING! We had overwhelming support from this little beach community. Yesterday I handed out flyers to people in the neighborhood, and even then people were excited to help out this cause. We had near perfect beach weather today. A lot of Saint Rose kids ( and Andrew, which was really nice) arrived early and helped set everything up. We had banners, posters, a yellow tablecloth, lemons, and a very cheery umbrella. Out stand looked pretty. People came to us, we came to them, all together a lot of lemonade was sold. The group down at the beach had a great time, and it seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves. My parents, my aunt, and of course my Grandma were an amazingly big help. They shopped, set up, took pictures, made sandwiches for everyone, took mulitple trips back and forth from the beach, and were generally kind an welcoming for everybody.
At the end of the day, as we were packing up, people were still coming to buy lemonade or just make donations. It was an amazing experience to see all these people just wanting to help because they had recieved a flyer or had seen a poster. As if it had been ordered on purpose, even the parasailer's parachute was yellow as they went by. Things just worked out right today. With all the trouble in the hurricane-stricken regions in the South, it was good to know that with the help of God we could do something good this week. I believe our next Key Club project will probably have to do with hurrican relief.
