So I went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change...
...and ended up with a shitstorm of trouble.
Here's how it happens:
I went in for an oil change, and as they do at all Jiffy Lubes, they offered me 200 other services. One of these services was for a burnt out tail light and another was for a busted windshield wiper. You know, legitimate repairs. Well, the guy swiped my company card, then made the mistake of following directions. As required by the card, he had to call my manager to confirm that certain services and charges were ok to do.
Note: My manager is nuts. That is the polite word.
Apparently I missed the part where the guy called and was verbally assaulted by my manager, but I put the pieces together after I got a call.
"ARE YOU AT JIFFY LUBE?? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU HAVING DONE?!"
"Want me to get the guy? I don't know all the car talk for what he's doing..."
"YEAH, YOU DO THAT!"
The guy working on the truck saw me on the phone and said he was glad they called me so quickly, but as I handed the phone off to him, he didn't look so jazzed. He held the phone to his ear for approximately 2 seconds before passing it back to me, saying, "I don't need to take that crap."
"YOU GET YOUR TRUCK OUT OF THERE! THAT GUY IS AN ASSHOLE! HE HUNG UP ON ME! THIS IS BULLSHIT! GET YOUR TRUCK OUT OF THERE! THAT GUY IS AN ASSHOLE! HE HUNG UP ON ME!!!!!!"
Ooooook. By that point, the oil was already drained and I needed a damn tail light to be legal, so I just let the guy finish all while I apologized profusely for my manager's extremely unprofessional knee jerk reaction.
Twenty minutes later I got a call from said manager. Needless to say, I didn't answer and he didn't leave a message, so it must have just been more bitching.
On the way home, I considered our company motto. Supposedly, we "passionately deliver uncompromising service." But I think, "I'M SPRAGUE AND I DON'T TAKE SHIT FROM ANYONE!" has a better ring to it, especially while laying on the horn (ok, so the windows were rolled up and I only faked honking...but that's because I'm PROFESSIONAL).
Tomorrow's meeting will be AWESOME!
