Once More, with Feeling!
I am inevitably 800 years late on the pick-up for every popular thing and fandom I have ever belonged to: Harry Potter (didn't start reading til the 4th book was out), Queer as Folk (started watching between 4th and final seasons), and now Buffy the Vampire Slayer (off the air for quite a while now, I think). So Girl Sam is being kind enough to support my habit, watching the seasons with me. We alternated a season of Buffy and a season of QAF. But we finished up QAF and I'm like a heroin addict. All I can think of is the next time I'll get to watch it. "Oh, it's 3 am? Can we watch one more episode?" "Oh, your aunt's coming over? When's she leaving so we can pop in some Buffy?" It's just that serious.
Before we started watching, she had me watch the musical episode, but it's been diluted until I just remembered that I really liked it. I wasn't a Spuffy fan then and I didn't have any context. But now, you're looking at a hardcore Spuffy fan (though I do love Bangel as well). So every episode I ask if Buffy and Spike are going to get together and Girl Sam and Stephanie consistently tease me with "I don't know, I've never seen this episode before." (Evil meanies!) So, we're now in Season 6 and last night was the musical episode: Once More with Feeling! And, this time, nirvana. I'm not sure why I didn't remember the end scene, but it was sweet, sweet bliss. I think I squeed for their entire song at the end. And with everything in context, it makes so much more sense. I am absolutely dying to see the next episode, but I want to see the musical again. Because, well, we all know how I feel about musicals...
But yeah, finally on board with Buffy. I think my next show (in real time, and only a season late) is Supernatural. Is that right,
hansbekhart? You just have to let me know when and where it comes on. And I'm gonna hop on Vanished from the beginning. Here's hoping it doesn't suck. So if anyone has suggestions for TV shows/movies/musicals/plays/books/etc that I probably should have known about before, please feel free to fill me in. Don't assume I will have to know it. Chances are, I don't. Apparently I led a really sheltered movie life until I arrived in GSO. (But no LotR, please, not a fandom I'll be joining...) So suggestions, please. And if anyone wants to tell me that Spike and Buffy are going to live happily ever after, that would be really sweet too (except you might face the wrath of Girl Sam, so maybe you just want to tease me like everyone else).
