Before I get to post about my wonderful weekend, it will be a whole new weekend. I have been super busy lately, with work and all sorts of other things. Friday was very nice. I got off work at 12 (as I usually do) and went to Asheboro to see Mom and Dad. Mom gets off work at 1 so we try to eat lunch together on Fridays. By some bizarre chance, Dad had Friday off. So we all went out to eat and did a little shopping. I went home to Greensboro, worked out and cleaned house before Jason got off work. When he got to my house we went out to eat and watched some movies. It was a very nice day.
My friend Belle (some back story for you- I have this group of friends that I have been friends with since we were 7 or 8. We don't see each other often, maybe twice a year. Their names are Belle, Ana, and Lauren.) called me and told me she was coming in from South Carolina to attend her half brother's baptismal service and she wanted to see me. She was coming up Saturday and leaving on Sunday, so we arranged to meet up Saturday night. Ana now lives in Greensboro (which I didn't know) so she would be there too. The only one missing was Lauren, but she is still in school @ WCU. We lived together freshman year since we went to college together but we've grown apart (sadly) a bit. We're working on it though.
So fast forward to Saturday- I met the ladies for coffee at Caribou Coffee at Friendly Center. We just sat around and talked, recalling old memories and laughing at the times we've had. We always do this. I have missed these girls so much! We've agreed we were going to try to see each other more often. It's hard though- with Belle in school at Clemson, Ana and me working all the time, and Lauren still in the mountains. We've really got to make that effort!
On Sunday, my mom came to see me and we went shopping and planted some flowers. She made me some lasagna, which was delicious! She left at about 9 and I finished cleaning my house.
I had a better weekend than I have had in a long time. But Monday came and I worked almost a 13 hour day because of a late board meeting. I'm the town news and government reporter so I often work late on Mondays for board meetings. Tonight I have a public hearing to cover and won't get home til 11 or 12. Because it's a big story- it will last til past 9 and then I have to drive back to the paper to write it up for Wednesday. Boo!
But the weekend will get here and it will be my saving grace.
