You know, it's funny...I've never really realized how far RWWR has come until last night, where we're sitting in a bar chatting with a reader from Denmark who took a vacation to Philidelphia to hang with us.
He's also the cartoonist who did
a few guest comics for us. You can check his work out at Probeersel.com.
I'll tell ya what, he's a frickin' crazy guy, and fits in well (or would) with our group dynamic. OH! And he speaks frickin' Dutch! It's silly!
We ran down to Philly to meet him at his hostel, and then from there we hit South Street. We stopped in a bar but got carded, so he (René, being 25) was the only was drinking.
After he was done drinking his whiskey, we continued walking South street, stopping in here and there, and then stopping to eat at Joe's cheesesteaks. Let me tell you what, those people that work there DEFINATELY hated our guts, and everyone that came in there. All they wanted to do was get you out of there (and hey, I can't say that I blame them). But it was cool there, they had all sorts of signed pictures and photos on the wall from famous celebrities that have been there. René says that we should've been up there, but I'm like, "Look, that's frickin' Bruce Willis. We're not exactly made of Bruce Willis's". Hehe, that guy believes us to be A LOT bigger than what we really are. It's amusing.
So, from there, we walked to the car to go to some Tea house and try some 'Bubble tea'. This came highly recommended from Justin and Rob, and was a first for both René and I. I thought it was crap. CHEWY crap. Tea shouldn't be chewy.
From there, it was back to the streets of Philly to go to another random bar where René bought us a round of drinks. We sat there, chatted a bit, tried talking over the blaring music while I doodled away at a little souvenir for René.
Afterwards, it was back to the hostel run by the queer guy, where we played a quick round of pool before René had to be tucked into bed. Heh.
All in all, it was quite the fun outting, quite different from the regular ones we've been having. Plenty of comic-talk going on.
Lord knows I love that.
