PART TWO BECAUSE I SCREENCAPPED TOO MUCH FOR LIFE. (The first part's
here.)
After the love scene with Dean and Cas, we cut to Sam, who is again being super creepy but also manages to look a little normal because he gets confused.
BUT WHATEVER LET'S GET BACK TO THIS SEXY PIECE -
HAAAAAAAAY GURL YOU LOOKIN' FINE
salkjdfalkhrjsds HNNNNNGGGGGGGG MORE CLOSEUPS OF HIS FACE FOREVER PLZ
HAHAHAHHA HIS FUCKING FAAAACE - DEAN DEAN I'M GLAD TO SEE YOU'VE STILL GOT A LITTLE YOU STILL THERE, STILL GETTING THE CHANCE TO OOGLE AT TITS, GOOD JOB BB
And now that he's cursed with the truth, Dean calls Bobby. BOBBY ILU FOREVER, OMG OMG OMG. ALSO THE FACES DEAN MAKES ARE HILARIOUS ONCE HE GETS BOBBY!TMI:
Although, of course, the best part is when Bobby was all like, "HAY DEAN 'BOUT MY FIRST GIRLFRIEND," and Dean's like, "nope nope no no noooooo never"
JHSAKHHAHAHAHAHA I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THE GIFS OF THIS EPISODE IT'S GOING TO BE SO AWESOME
So then Dean calls Sam, who is still being the weirdest bitch ever like, "omg peeps crying how do i deal with this girl crying IDK BECAUSE I AM A ROBOOOOOOT"
MEANWHILE OF COURSE LISA CALLS AND DEAN FREAKING PICKS UP THE PHONE:
First off, his haircut looks a little weird behind the ear? Like they took a buzz-cut all around his ear? It was a little distracting.
Second off, I did love this scene. Lisa admitting right out that she accepted the fact that Dean drank himself to sleep and he had problems, but I love the fact that she said, "Once your brother walked through that door, I knew it was over." No doubt that Dean has probably fessed up a lot to Lisa, probably told her everything (because, I mean, he did plan on spending the rest of his life with her, I'm pretty sure) and there's no doubt she gleaned how unhealthy Sam and Dean's relationship was/is. So once he came back in Dean's life, Lisa instantly knew two things: 1.) Dean was leaving and 2.) the relationship he had with Lisa was over. Lisa cares for Dean, she knows how hard it is and she took him in because she wanted to rescue him. But now, now she is helpless to do anything and, worse yet, Dean's now put her child in danger. And I'm so glad that Lisa was like, "Hello, you damaged my goddamn kid, and that's not acceptable." No doubt she loves Dean, but I'm glad that her child comes first because damn right he should. And I feel bad for Dean, because that's his last lifeline to an actual life severing before his eyes, but that was the right thing for Lisa to do. (Not because I want Lisa out, but because I respect her as a strong female character and it would not be right at all for her to let him in after what happened last episode.)
OKAY NOW LET'S SEE SOME MORE HOT SHOTS OF DEAN ON THE PHONE HELL YEEEEEEEEAH:
The best part about this is that we get to see the duel sides of Lisa and Dean's situation. Dean is trying so hard to keep what he probably considers the last bit of good in his life. Lisa knows him through and through by this point, and she's been able to keep up with him, and he probably thinks he doesn't deserve it, but dammit, he's trying. Lisa, on the other hand, is trying to deal with the man that she's grown close to and probably loves not only willingly putting himself in danger when he knows that there is a family waiting for him, to love him and care for him, but also the fact that she has a son and she will do anything to protect him. It's interesting, because Lisa knows all about Dean. She isn't blind to what he does or what's in the world, and honestly, she's done a damn good job handling all this shit from Dean. (The storyline is boring for me, but I do get very interested in analyzing the dynamics of Dean and Lisa's relationship.)
ANYWAY, LET'S MOVE ON TO SAAAAAAAM AND HIS CREEPY SELF, TALKIN' TO DEAD CAT SKULLS IN A CONDESCENDING MANNER:
AND THEN ~*~*~THE SCENE~*~*~
I didn't really think about this before, but Dean is so emotionally charged in this moment, it's no wonder he's on the verge of tears. Lisa just told him the brutal truth about his unhealthy relationship with his sibling and told him it's over, and now Sam is saying, "I'm sorry, I froze, Dean your my brother and I love you and I didn't mean it." (And Dean is assuming he's telling the truth, of course.) So I'm sure it's a huge jumble of fuck-my-life and I'm-really-relieved. And Jensen is so good at showing that Dean really is completely at mercy to his emotions at this point. Dean's just so tired and angry and upset and inside it's a huge fuckin' mess.
By the end, Dean is just so happy to realize (incorrectly) that his brother is finally telling him the truth that he's just like, "Let's do this." Which what makes what happens later all that more emotionally powerful.
Because, honestly, it's no fucking wonder Dean punches the shit out of him. Obviously if you're here, you've seen the episode. So if you think that what Dean did was overkill, think about this. Dean's been on edge pretty much ever since the beginning of this. He's even getting to the point where he's ready to take action if Bobby can't find out anything. So now, he's asking for the truth, and there is no way it works on Sam. (If it doesn't work on him with the goddess, definitely not going to work with Dean.) So Sam is not just lying, but he's really milking it. (If you watch the episode again, you can see Sam intentionally pushing the 'brother' buttons.) And he's doing it so Dean will be at ease again and be useful. He's using the truth curse as an excuse to basically manipulate his brother. (Obviously, he wouldn't feel bad about it.) Remember that. Sam says, "You think I would let that happen to my brother?" He intentionally makes Dean second guess himself and uses the truth curse to his advantage.
LOLOL AND THEN WE GET TO THIS FUCKING HOUSE AND I ALMOST SHIT MY PANTS BECAUSE UM EXCUSE ME SPN WHEN DID THIS TURN INTO A FUCKIN' FREDDY KRUEGER FILM
IKR BOYS
And then we get to the real meat of the episode.
It's such an amazing scene. Because Dean is made to put it all out there, and you can see how much he really loves Sam, how much he actually did want a family after all, but that he knows that there's basically one thing he was raised for and that was hunting. He blames Sam's condition on the job, relating it to how he felt when that's all he did, how it makes you lose your humanity. He acknowledges that it wasn't that he didn't enjoy spending time with Lisa and Ben and fitting into that life, but he knew that he didn't belong because, really, he's just good at one thing and that's slitting throats, killing things. Dean's face after he tells all is the worst part about this for me. The way he looks at Sam is heartbreaking.
And when he realizes what she's saying, the full extent of it all...
Oh, Dean.
So, understandably, he grills his brother. And that was pretty fucking harsh. Because, hello, your brother just admitted the following facts:
1.) He put your life in danger.
2.) He put Lisa and Ben's life in danger.
3.) He almost turned you into a monster when he could have saved you.
4.) He did it for the job.
5.) He doesn't feel anything.
6.) When you thought he was telling the truth, he was lying to you.
7.) It took you holding a knife to his chest and threatening to kill him for him to actually tell you what was wrong.
Yes, Sam's earnest about it. He seems earnest. But really, Sam's emotionless. And he's risked Dean's life more than once. Not only that, Dean has just had the truth ripped out of him when it seems all Sam's telling is lies. He's emotional and vulnerable, and Dean is going to get violent.
And to see his face afterwards, to realize what he had done and have that be the end of the episode, that was perfect. That was how I wanted it to end. It's brutal and fast and abrupt and it's perfect for the end of that episode. We feel how harsh it is; there's no afterwards to soften the blow of how ugly this scene is. We're left with Dean and Sam, bloody and confused and hurt, and that's exactly where the episode should end.
WHEW. WHEW. WHEW. If you want to discuss something in the comments, please do! Be aware that the whole post is a huge spoiler, so if you haven't seen the episode, don't click on the comments either, darlings.
OTHERWISE OMG I HAD AT LEAST LIKE 70 MORE SCREENCAPS, I'M SUCH A FUCKING ADDICT
