It's never been much of a secret that the Ukrainian authorities, in addition to being criminals, some of them convicted more than once, are also clinical idiots. The recent mess with DST proves it very nicely.
On September 20, the Parliament voted not to change clocks back to winter time. The reasons behind this are still a mystery to me and to many. Most people believe that it was done to follow the example of Russia et al. -- back to USSR, anyone? (Then again, it baffles me equally why Russia went for it in the first place, but let the Russians deal with it themselves.) Sticking to summer time is not exactly a good idea, since GMT+2 actually is Ukraine's natural time zone. Besides, there are computerized systems, businesses, kids who would have to go to school in the dark and all sorts of stuff like that.
Guess what the lunatics' asylum that's mistakenly called the Ukrainian Parliament did today. 2/3 of all the patients just happened to change their mind. We are going to stick to the old way after all.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy it's turned out this way. What I'm not so happy about is that the aforementioned asylum thinks me even dumber than themselves not to see through this "clever" game which is all about distracting me from the political farce around Tymoshenko's sentence. Well, guys, sorry, you've failed.
Anyway, I think I have turned into a Guy Fawkes fangirl here, for how can one live in present-day Ukraine and not love a guy who wanted to blow up a parliament?
