A moment of sci-fi geekiness

Okay, I know I went to Archon and it deserves a wonderful long ranting which I'll get to at the end here. But today is a day where I achieved one of those sci-fi fan bliss moments. Went to the book signing at the Public Library here and I know have an autographed copy of Ender's Game I got Sarah and early Xmas present by getting a copy of Ender's Shadow signed. She was thrilled. *grins* Which makes me happy too. Got to go to the lecture he gave on the role of fiction in society that he gave at Mizzou tonight. Which was awesome, the man has a knack for using humor to get his examples across. So that was one of the penultimate moments of sci-fi geekiness for me. I now have two of my favorite books signed by the authors. How cool is that?

This last weekend was Archon... my one vacation that is solely for me. *cue the happy dancing* I spent too much money, I always do though, but the level of contentedness that it has bought knows no bounds. I mean how do you argue with cheesecake pocky? I mean how? Especially when I shared it with Tess who has a booth in the dealers room, she makes earrings and other similar jewlery. She took two dollars off the earcuff I bought, which was nice of her. So now I have a third earcuff that has a dragon and a little fake pearl bead on it. It's very cute.

Bought two more anime playing decks, one for Wolf's Rain one for Kenshin. Also know have a complete set of WK Gluhen pins; Aya, Yohji, Ken and Omi. Bought a new tarot deck this one with mermaids on it. Bought pocky obviously, and I found a copy of 2nd edition Cyberpunk, which I bought couldn't pass it up really.

This year I think my main luxury was the Art Show and Art Auction. Spent a grand total of 55 dollars there this year. I bought two original pencil sketches from one guy. One is of Kowru the other is of Sephiroth, both are so well done I can't believe he was in the amatuer classification. Also got a print of a Rachel Mayo picture Mythamorphosis that is just gorgeous.

After the Art Auction I got to see a screening of FF VII Advent Children and let me tell you that was a moment of fangirl squee-ishness that bordered on orgasmic. It's the first time I watched a CGIed anime and was enraptured. Totally and completely. I shall own it when it hits US release I garun-fucking-tee it.

Went to panels on a variety of things; fanfiction, anime costuming, a chain mail demo. Also saw Luke Ski do his bit of filking, man's hilarious.

Ah but the nightlife at Archon is what I live for. Drinking and socializing, got a smattering of kisses from cute men. On the night that was rampant with pirates got to exchange witty banter and a kiss with one of the many Jack Sparrows running around. Man had the voice down spot on, tell me how a red blooded woman couldn't be turned on by that? Drank much Mojo, I still don't know what they put into it. Even got to sample two varieties of Klingon Blood Wine and one of Romulan Ale. Holy Keerist... Romulan Ale one of the legendary drinks that is spoken of at cons like that... and it was so smooth. The Zombie Squad room threw an awesome shindig both nights. Just amazing... with drinks with names like T-virus it's hard to go wrong.

Well that's my vacation in a nutshell, hope I didn't bore y'all too much.
