Unexpected delight on Sunday. Alex and his Debbie are in San Francisco for a business conference so they, along with
trektone made the long journey out here to the Valley to visit over pizza and much talking. We fell into easy conversation as if we'd just seen each other a day ago instead of years. The best part for me was being able to be silly with people who get my sense of humor! (unlike my roommate. Nice woman, but all we have in common is the rent and other bills. I read a lot, she watches TV a lot. We stay out of each other's way. It works)
Pizza at Mountain Mike's. White garlic sauce with salami, bacon and atrichoke hearts! Yesterday's Books was closed, so sad, and no one felt any need to visit Barnes & Noble so no bookgeeking. But there was pizza and deep discussions of favorite good/bad movies and pornography, and Joey drove us around Modesto to see the strip malls, the huge housing developments, the almond orchards...
But hey, out here in the Boonies we do have a great used bookstore, high quality pizza, farmland and lots of open space empty except for trees and grasses, and well, Me. So if you're ever in the California Central Valley come visit. We could tour the Blue Diamond Almond plant!
