My responses, by bullet point:

Pros for Bates:
-You're right, it shouldn't matter, but if you like it for yourself and not so you can tell people that you're going to a top 25, then that's just fine.
-Is this necessarily a good thing? A place whose politics are similar to yours doesn't allow you the chance to convert people! ;)
-Unless you're planning on USING this Rhetoric major, I hardly see how this affects you, since we already know that Bates is a progressive place!
-Now that -- is -- cool
-Perfect for you!
-So you like it a lot! Good!
-So what. There are fewer guys than girls. Unless you're going to compare this ratio to that of ConnColl, this hardly matters.
-Wanting you is good (UTD wanted me)
-Are you really considering Law? Last I heard was you're not sure -- but even if there's a possibility, this is definitely good!
-Selectivity doesn't matter, but the rest do -- especially teacher accesibility! But out of curiosity, how are these things ranked and by whom?
-So you don't want to take a foreign language. Does ConnColl have a foreign language requirement? It's not written under "Cons for Conn".
-Yay!
-So they have more money to spend on stuff... yay?
-It's good to have beauty around you, and if you're an artist, then you're probably more sensitive to that than some other people
-Yay for Howard Zinn! (... who?)

Pros for Conn:
-Close to home being a + is badlerdash
-Selectivity doesn't matter, but wanting you is good!
-So the campus is bigger -- is that more learning space, more living space, more open space, more parking space, more food space?
-So they have less money to spend on stuff... poo?
-Does Bates require more than one math class? If not, this doesn't matter.
-See above but replace "math" with "science" and I THOUGHT YOU LIKE SCIENCE!
-Ah, weather does matter, yes.
-Having an honor code says, what, exactly, about the school? (Lawrence has one, too)
-You can't minor in anything you want at Bates?
-So is Conn prettier than Bates or vice versa? I noticed you used the same words!
-Depending on what these events are, you may or may not be interested
-Yay for good Music!

Cons for Bates:
-So their math requirement is equal to that of Conn, and again, YOU LIKE SCIENCE SO WHY IS THIS BAD?
-Requiring gym = probably a good idea however unappealing it may sound
-Far away from home being - is balderdash
-Ah, weather does matter, yes
-So you're afraid you won't be as "perfect" as the other students?
-Smaller meaning less space, but it's the acrage/student ratio that's important, right? And like I said above, if they have less space, what do they not have space for that Conn does?
-You won't want to triple major AND have multiple minors, I can promise you that (unless you want to stick around for seven or eight years)
-Like you said, Mer, if you got in, you're definitely good enough!!!!!

Cons for Conn (giggle):
-Like I said, is this really a bad thing?
-Going to college in a completely WASP-dominated population = a horror movie that no one has filmed yet
-Are foreign languages all that bad? Which languages do they offer? Could you learn something really cool, like Russian? If you take a foreing language, you'll probably be more eligible for study abroad! And studying abroad (for a short time) is really fun!
-Status and selectivity don't matter, but academics, teacher accesibility/ interesting, and quality of life do!
-So you don't really like it
-It doesn't matter how good the Art department is -- if YOU don't like it, it's not good FOR YOU
-Yuck
-So you don't think you'll fit in at either place?
-So they drink more heavily at Conn? Contact an alumn and ask if you will be pressured to participate; that's what's important. What the other students do with their brain cells doesn't really affect you, does it?
-Hurricanes in New England = yeah right. Tell that to the Floridians, Louisianans, Alabamans, Mississipians, and Texans!
-You don't like the Coast Guard? They rescue harmed marine aminals!
-Nuclear power = not dangerous. It's the PEOPLE who make mistakes, and since this is CT, the most educated state in the country, I think you're really safe (probably safer than I was in France, where everything is nuclear!). Unless you're opposed to nuclear power for environmental reasons. If that's the case, let me remind you that nuclear power emits fewer pollutants and greenhouse gases etc than any other possible form of energy (besides hydrogen fuel cells, which are still too wimpy to be useful).
