Mission: Complete, Utter FAIL! *facepalms*

Uh-huh. As the title suggested, I failed.
From all of the significant milestones, I managed to meet all of them, but one, and the most significant one: Story Submission on September 25th!
And the thing is, I even tried to meet the deadline by pulling two all nighters in a row, which was unheard of for me and really, really took a toll on me, and yet, I still couldn't meet the deadline! Cue frustrated shrieks and hairpulls.
My only explanation to this failure is not only my inability to properly plan the writing, but also to curb my writing. I found that, despite my worries, the number of words was not a problem, the problem was the story itself.
I might have made the basic draft, but when I started to develop the scenes, they ended up taking more words and details that I didn't expect. When I thought I could meet the deadline, when my work gave me enough leeway for my muse to start flowing and time for me to start writing, I found out that there were many things that couldn't be simplified or erased from the story! The story pretty much wrote itself!
Basically, few minutes until the deadline, coming to this realization, I gave up, I threw the towel. The perfectionist in me (too bad it went along with procrastinator) refused to give less than solid story. Okay, I might allow some grammar mistakes or overlook some details, but plot or story? Nope, not gonna give that up. So yeah, I decided to simply let go, as much as I want to cry for not succeeding.
However, the fandom and the pairing itself is rare, so even if I end up finishing the story, I'm not confident enough to post it on my own so I ask the mod that I can participate again next year with the same story, and maybe, I could also try another pairing. Yeah, what the heck am I thinking, right? I think I'll keep trying until I succeed.
So, my current task: finishing and polishing the story until it shines, baby!
