Today, my sisters Rachel and Heather and I drove into Columbia and went shopping at the Five Points shopping district. It's an area near the downtown and the University of South Carolina Columbia campus with lots of awesome shops and cafes. Despite a forecast for rain today, the sky here is clear and it's sunny, and even though tonight it will dip down to close to 30 degrees F, right now it's in the mid-60s and has been very comfortable all day. The yarn shop I wanted to go to in Columbia was closed (as they are every Monday, apparently), but there were still plenty of places to go. We went to
"Loose Lucy's", where I got some smudge sticks and my sister Rachel got an awesome handmade corduroy backpack, and to a thrift store called "Sid and Nancy's", where there were lots of neat things, but nothing that we wanted to buy. It's that kind of place. Then we had a snack at this awesome sub place called
"Jimmy John's". I had never been there before. OMG! Turkey sandwiches have no business tasting that good!... I have a feeling that they probably have a lot of salt and other bad-for-people-but-good-tasting-and-addictive things added, but that's only a guess... On the way out of town, we stopped for groceries at
Earth Fare (so expensive, but so good), and Rachel got a smoothie from their smoothie bar since she hadn't wanted a sub at Jimmy John's. Traffic wasn't at all bad and we were back at the Burough at about 4:25. Susan's dh had cleaned the kitchen and the house now smells lemony fresh. What a nice surprise! LOL!
Tomorrow, I might want to go to Camden to go antiquing. Thanks to the recent issue of Victoria magazine, I have a particular longing for some ironstone pottery... like maybe a basin... or a teapot... I also need to go to the local yarn shop here in Sumter... because I really do need some knitting needles... I think I haven't knitted anything all week and that feels very strange to me. I have spun a little though...
Speaking of spinning and knitting... I'm making socks for the boys... (also, maybe more hats...) Because I think Jared and Jensen need handspun, handknit socks, don't you? (and they always need more beanie hats...) I'm looking for some superwash wool for Jared. I've already found what I need for Jensen. I want to make the socks out of wool, but I don't want them to have to handwash them, hence the need for superwash... Although, the thought of dirty socks in their sinks amuses me to no end... *nods*
I hope you all are doing well. Of course with five of us sharing one poor laptop computer and the fic writing mission Susan has been on, coupled with all the other things we've been doing, I haven't been checking my f-page at all since I've been here, so please comment if I have missed something important. I miss you guys. *hugs you all*
