Yesterday, I was on chauffeur duty. One of Ina's huge number of cousins was getting married and she had promised to go. However, there was no way she was going to be able to get back from the reception, so she asked me to drive her down to Otford for the wedding ceremony. Ina insisted on checking out the parking around Wanstead Park yesterday - note that she was not driving! - and I'm glad we did. There is good walking in the park, though only one slightly elevated part.

The most important part of Bedfords Park, from the point of view of Essex Wildlife Trust is the part I have yet to see in its full glory - the huge wildflower meadow, the most noticeable landmark of which is this fallen tree...

I'm very lucky when it comes to where I live. For a commuter area just outside the Greater London boundary, and within walking distance of a tube station, this place is a green paradise.
