Grumbles

Firstly, I understood that Virgin1 would not show the first episode of the second season of Criminal Minds because it was, after all, the second part of a two part episode. I recognised that the episode that they did show (which was excellent) was not the one they had advertised in Radio Times but apparently they showed Episode 3 because episode 2 is about child abduction/porn. This is presumably not to upset the McCanns - as it is after the watershed I can't think of any other reason. This is getting ludicrous. How long does it take before a subject becomes mentionable again after a high publicity case, particularly when the McCanns themselves are responsible for most of said publicity.

Last night I checked the BBC teletext and noted that the episode due to be shown at 10 was the one shown on Monday, so didn't bother to stay up. Now, however, I am worried that they were actually showing episode 2 then, and I will have to stay up to 11 next week when they repeat it to watch it. You know, I think I'm going to order the Region 1 DVD right now. Losing your viewers so early is not a good idea, Mr Branson.

Secondly, some idiot on a motor bike nearly ran me down this morning on the pedestrian lights outside the Maypole. The Green Man came up and the beeps came on and I walked briskly across the road - to have to brake to a halt as this looney on a bike swung left against the red light. I admit to demanding "What the F*ck" he was doing, but he promptly rode off, giving me two fingers from behind. I have to cross this road every morning. If he rides like that he is going to get someone killed, and I would prefer it wasn't me.

Thirdly, characters from past writing are not supposed to leap out and ambush me with ideas that illuminate the world they live in. It also means a search and replace through said massive (320,000 words - I kid thee not) novel. Meanwhile, there is much wandering about in a mine. ("Wot - not up a cliff?" inamac asks.) Still, it's interesting watching a pov character through someone else's eyes... Anyhow, watch this space.
