Diary stuff

I don't know where the time goes. There are so many things I need to do that I haven't done that I can't keep track of them. I have half a dozen book reviews nearly or partly finished that I need to check a few facts for before I post. One of them has been waiting three months... I also ought to say something about Criminal Minds other than Wow!, but most of what needs to be said about that series has been, and I thank Bear muchly for squeeing about it so much that I bought the first season DVD on spec. Eyes are kept peeled for missing series, and am much cheered by the news that The Man from UNCLE will be available some time in the future, and that The Streets of San Francisco is out on Region 1, and will almost certainly follow over here. At least, Play.com thinks so.

Shards moves along in fits and starts (constrained, as it is, by the structure I have chosen to write it in), but as I now know basically how the plot is going to work, I must do the bits of research I need and finish it. (Also, the little CSI/Primeval exchange of letters and e-mails that I started but didn't finish.)

However, age-related forgetfulness has set in so deeply that last week I noticed a letter on my bedside table, thought, "Oh, that's the mammogram appointment - wonder when that is," and found it was that lunchtime. Luckily, that was the day the Central Line was down and I was planning to work from home, so I actually made said appointment.

My father rang up looking to know if I had some importantish documents of his. I think I have, but they have been put somewhere 'safe' and we couldn't find them. I am sure they will turn up, though.

Not only that, but suddenly Kari's and Phil's party, to which we have promised to go and which will need an overnight hotel as we are disinclined to avoid booze at said party, turned out to be only a week away. Eeek! Thank Ghu for e-mail and the internets.

At least we got Flash transferred to our registration and him and Quill entered for the Kensington Kitten and Neuter Cat Club Show at Bracknell on 28th July. It will be the only time we will be able to enter Flash there until he is done with being an entire tom - hopefully quite some time in the future. (Yes, they really mean that "kitten and neuter".) His litter sister may be there too, which would be nice. She's destined for breeding too, so this would also be her only chance at this show for a long time. Actually, it will be our first time there. Should be interesting - always assuming the M25 is reasonably clear, we can find the hall, and have remembered enough change if parking is charged for...

Meanwhile, it continues to rain. And hail. And thunder. I haven't been out in the garden for two weeks now, and we haven't eaten out there since April. Maybe it was because we ate out there in April. Lots of negative magic.
