Anansi Boys by Neil GaimanNeil Gaiman has a lot to answer for. I started reading American comics when I was seven, and continued until I was in my thirties. To "read" Anansi Boys properly, you need the audio book. I thought it a decent, fun book until I heard Lenny Henry read it. The extra depth lifts the book onto a different plane and I *wish* I'd thought to nominate it for best performance.

I kept seeing the comic book illustrations in my head all the way through (not true of American Gods or of Coraline and even the real ones of the original Stardust have sunk beyond easy memory) so I think of it as a very visual book rather than a verbal one.

However, I need some decent audio books on CD for the car, so will follow your recommendation and maybe report back. I like Lenny Hendry anyway.
