While Nero Wolfe is indeed fabulous, I must admit the "I'd be the dame to his P.I." from fiction goes to Garrett, from the Garrett Files by Glen Cook. *sighs* He  and "The Dead Man" are the fantasy noir version of Nero Wolfe in a way.
