Since I don't feel like going to bed yet, I figured this was as good a time as any to update you on life as of late.
I am loving every minute of Halloween rehearsals. I really need to work on my stamina, which is my biggest challenge. Since I'm just a sub, I'm not required to do all of the loops while we practice. I'm there to sub out the main performers. However, we have lots of subs, so I'm not getting to do the run as much as I ought to be doing. Next rehearsal, I think I might do the loops behind the main group so I can get used to it. I did go jogging this week, though. It's not a huge workout, but it's a start. I have my first rehearsal for my other unit tomorrow. I'm really excited!
I also had my first day of training for KidzArt. The Meet the Teacher event went really well and I'm getting paid for showing up early and leaving late, which is wonderful. I was also reimbursed for my badge, which was perfectly timed because rent is due next week. For our training next week, we were all assigned one piece of our curriculum to prepare and share with everyone. In other words, I have to draw one of the pictures we'll be teaching the kids how to draw. I like mine a lot. It's very me and I can't wait to get started on it...
...which leads me to one small problem. We still do not have a table in my apartment. The only flat surface I have is my kitchen counter. So, unless I want to stand to do my work, this could be a problem. Thankfully, I went on to the WDW classified and found a lady who is trying to sell an antique drop-leaf table and two matching chairs at a ridiculously low price. I asked her for pictures, which she's trying to send me tomorrow. This table is the exact style I've been wanting to get for the apartment because it can be tiny when not in use and expand when we have lots of people over. I really hope it's what I'm looking for. If so, it's my birthday present to me. :)
Clara and Crystal are secretly planning a party for me. I'm not supposed to know about it, but they accidentally invited me to the Facebook event. lol I removed it and promised not to snoop. I'll find out tomorrow whether or not I have my birthday off.
"Dames at Sea" is going rather well. The rehearsals tend to go one way or another. In one way, they're tedious because I'm just an understudy, so I spend the rehearsal following my leads around and writing down their blocking. But, since the role I'm understudying is split cast, I have yet to have a chance to run the blocking. (Hopefully I will soon.) In the other way, the rehearsals are stressful because while my tapping skills are improving, they're not honed yet. Tomorrow night, we have another dance rehearsal and I'm a little concerned about it.
On a more positive Dames note, the costumes look wonderful. We're using a lot of old recital costumes and some of them are being home designed and made, so they'll be one-of-a-kind. I'm trying to work out a little more so I'll be in good shape to wear these, especially the finale costume. Oh, and I also sold an ad for the program to the Orlando Youth Theatre!
Well, I ought to get some sleep tonight. I have to be get up early to go practice with Pooh and friends.
G'night!!
