Okay, so things have been going right long before, but right now I can really feel the magic. Why? Well, let me tell you!
- I got cast in STAGE's new production: "Amateur Dramatics." It's a combination of four one-act plays that focus on two couples at the turn of the century and their friends. Watch them learn how to ride a new-fangled contraption (a bicycle), turn a parlor into a theatre, put on a play when an actor calls in sick on opening night, and what happens when two men propose to the same girl. It's going to be a lot of laughs!
I get to play Miss Dorothy Andrews, a young prim and proper lady who is involved in the play and is the object of affections of two men. We have an understudy cast, so we're planning to use all sixteen actors. Cole is understudying Mr. Barlowe, one of the men who proposes to Miss Andrews. I hope that we will get to work together one night.
I am a little nervous because Dorothy's big play is the last one with the proposals. Due to the length of the other three plays, the last one may be presented as a staged reading. I really hope we can fit it in with the others.
Anyway, the first read-through is next week and I think the performances are in mid-July. I cannot wait! I'm so excited!
- I got cast in ENCORE!'s summer concert! ENCORE is the Walt Disney World cast choir. Every summer, they put on a concert to benefit a local charity. Last year, they presented "Revolution," a combination of music from the 60's and 70's. This year, the concert is called "Dream our Dreams" and it is a culmination of rare and reworked Disney songs. (We're singing "Love" from Robin Hood and a few other deleted songs.) We will have a full orchestra, a color guard, dancers, and models. It is going to be insane! As the director described it, "It's not your typical Disney concert."
I am so excited. I was very nervous about auditioning for ENCORE, but I'm thrilled to be cast. And I get to be an Alto again, which is something I haven't been in a few years. Rehearsals start on June 7th. *squee*
- I talked to Sylvan yesterday and I think I'm done setting my summer hours. Sylvan will have me for four hours in the morning, Mon-Sat; Disney can use me anytime after 2pm those days, plus all of Sunday. Thanks to my cap, that would be 24 hours at Disney (max.) and 24 hours at Sylvan. 48 hours a week...and at a pretty decent pay rate, too. I think it will work well. I just hope I don't crash and burn with two jobs and all of these upcoming rehearsals. But I can always cut back on scheduled Disney shifts and pick up when I can.
- We have a lead for a 4th girl for the apartment!
Everything is just such a whirlwind now. Josh is finally back in Florida and happy at his place. Star Wars Weekends begin next weekend, which is taking over Cole's schedule. All of the boys are busy with canopy rehearsals for DEP (Disney's Electrical Parade), which opens this summer. Crystal will be in town in four days! And Clara's visit is about three weeks away. (She'll be here permanently in July.)
There's so little to do and so much time to do it in!
Strike that. Reverse it. ;)
Love,
Nikki
