Wow...a whole week already? Let's catch up, shall we?
I went home last week to see my family for a few days. I rode 4 planes by myself, met some very nice people, saw both sides of the family, and even got to hang out with Davey (my AP pledge father). However, while I did miss Ohio, I missed Florida just a little bit more.
Josh picked me up from the airport and we immediately went out to lunch. We ended up spending the rest of the day just hanging out together. I missed him (and everyone) terribly.
Work got interesting this week:
Saturday -- My 11 hour EMH day became a 5 hour breakfast, which was pretty disappointing.
Sunday -- Only 4 hours of LC. Nothing big.
Monday -- Asked for an ER, which I hoped would come later in the day. Instead, it came two hours in. :(
Tuesday -- I gave Tuesday to Jenni so I could spend the day with Katie and Phil.
Yesterday -- Business as usual. Regular day of work. No changes.
Today -- Someone picked up my shift.
Tomorrow -- Scheduled off.
Saturday -- Trying to hang out with a certain kitty cat. (If this comes through, I'll work five days straight with five different friends.)
So, now to workshop talk!
TRAVEL LOOP -- A travel loop is repetitive choreography that you do on parade route to travel along the street. We were taught 6 counts of an 8 count and, eventually, got to take it outside and do it in a circle in the parking lot. The choreography was very high blue, pushing a low yellow at points, and I was very comfortable with it. There was only one section that got a little confusing because I had to switch sides and learn the turns in different directions. But it was a lot of fun. One of the ladies who ran it also does Power Rangers, which is really cool! She told me that in this company, "It's not so much what you know as much as who you know." She advised me to keep going to dance classes and workshops and said it had been a pleasure.
BLOCK PARTY BASH (& ROPE) -- This was the biggie. Over 100 people got on the waiting list for this workshop. They ended up letting all 45-50 of us learn the choreography, which was definitely yellow...but fun! As always, one of my weaknesses is picking up choreography, but that's why I'm going to all of these workshops. The choreography was fun and quite a workout. Around 9:45-10, we went outside to learn the jump rope choreography. I've been jumping rope since I was 5, so this was no problem for me. (While warming up, I was happy to see I could still twist the rope.) Then we put both sections of choreography together: dance plus rope. I had forgotten a bit of the dance by then, but the rope was solid. Then they decided to have us do the routine in groups of six...outside, in the hot sun, at 10:30 in the morning.
As always, it's about attitude. I went out there with a smile and prepared to have fun and got a little down when my dance didn't come out as planned. But I was ready for the rope. When we had to jump in the rope, I missed. Slightly discouraged, I modified my choreography so I could catch up later...and missed again. At this point, the trainer was watching me to see how I would react, knowing I knew I made a mistake. I tried to act as if I was fine, but I honestly wasn't. After nailing the routine every time until then, I was a little depressed that I messed up. But when we all did the routine one last time, I got it back and felt better. One of the ladies told me I had to work on my attitude and facial expressions, but the other said I had terrific stage presence. Both said I should keep going to workshops and classes and work on picking up the routines. (Apparently, that's what separates yellows from blues.)
Tonight, I'm going to an ANIMATION workshop. I'm excited to learn new things I can try out on set. And they just announced the workshops for April. Among them are musical theatre, choreography, animation, a specific puppetry skill, and a workshop just for two of my nutty best friends. I am SO excited!!
Moving on...
Tomorrow is a general equity audition day. They are having auditions for FOLK and B&tB dancers, female singers (HSM, Voyage, Finding Nemo), male singers (Dapper Dans), and male comedic actors (Pirate Tutorial). Josh is going to the male singers call. I'd go for the females, but I don't have a song prepared. But I think we're both going to dancers, just for kicks. (No pun intended.)
Katie and Phil are in town this week! Neither of them have been to Walt Disney World, but they are having the "time of their lives." (Sorry...couldn't resist.) Their favorite park appears to be Epcot. Due to Katie's allergies, they're avoiding Animal Kingdom. I got to give them a personalized tour of the Studios and I'm going to try to meet them later tonight for more fun at MK. They got a chance to meet lots of my friends: Josh, Rob, Erik and Libbi. A group of us went out to Rainforest Cafe the other night for dinner and got drinks. Josh and I both had raspberry rainfalls, which is a frozen raspberry, pineapple, and vodka concoction. So tasty. Rob got a margarilla, which had lots of orange. It was absolutely amazing!!
And next week...Crystal and Lindsey are coming in town. I'm especially excited because Crystal and Josh and I are going to a ren faire a week from Saturday!! I'm breaking out my pirate wench costume for the ocassion. I just need to bleach my chemise and pray that my boots come in on time. There's a picture of the costume below. My mom and I made the chemise, skirt, and headwrap. I rented the bodice.

Crystal and Josh are both dressing up with me, so I am positively thrilled. I miss ren faires so much. It won't be the same without Axel the Sot there, but it's still going to be a blast!!
Also, Margaret and I are going to take all of next Thursday to go apartment hunting. We have a list of about 7 or so that we're going to go visit. We're bringing a camera to take pictures to show Josh and we're also going to come up with questions to ask the various complexes.
Well, that's about it from this end! Must be going...time for a quick post-BPB cat nap, a shower, and then off again into the wild blue yonder!
Always,
Nikki
