As promised, here is the post about formal.
The 2008 College Program Formal was themed "A Night on Mt. Olympus." And Disney dressed it to the nine's. The formal took place in the World Showcase Pavilion at Epcot. (For those of you familiar with Epcot, it's that massive gate between Canada and the UK.)
The pavilion looked so stunning! Everything was covered with ivy and clouds and statues of the gods.
They served us dinner...salad, rolls, mashed red potatoes, green beans with almonds, rotisserie chicken, beef tips with mushrooms, angel food cake with kiwi sauce, and a fruity punch drink. So good!!
As if the free dinner wasn't good enough, we had some special guests...
Megara and Phil...
Panic and Pain, Hades' minions!!
The character meet and greets were so amazing!! You cannot find any of those characters on property. The only one you can see on a regular basis is Meg when she's on the Fantasmic riverboat. I was a little disappointed not to see Hades, but I wasn't really expecting to see him or Hercules. They are exceedingly rare.
There was a raffle going on throughout the night and they played slide shows of College Program pictures. The music was really good, too! A nice mix of modern, oldies, a little merengue (for the Brazilians), and even a swing dance. My favorites were Dancing Queen, Cotton Eye Joe, the Grease Mega Mix, the Cupid Shuffle, and teaching Paul how to do Soulja Boy.
The party was full of people who got extensions in entertainment, too. It was so much fun. It was totally a party night for the entertainment college program kids. (You knew who we were.)
Seriously, College Program formal felt like the prom I never had. Don't get me wrong, SAA prom was nice. But this dance was the prom that SAA wanted to have and couldn't afford. The music was wonderful, dinner was delicious, the themeing was beautiful, and the company was out of this cosmos...literally! :)
It's been a real slice!
