Clearing my facebook quotes page.
It's a collection that's pretty much spanned all of high school, and then the first year of college. But I think I'm different now, and certain things don't speak to me in the same way anymore. I've always had a quote fetish though, and these are quotes that yelled loudly at one point in my life. Even if others speak louder now, their echoes will always have a place in my heart.
I save them here because if the memory of the past is what makes you who you are, then LJ is one of my horcruxes. I'm so into strange artsy sentimental things now. Thanks to Davis friends. Thanks to deviantart. Thanks to certain books.
It's strange that such a silly site has something so important to me. I didn't even realize how important they were to me until I wanted to take them down, but realized I couldn't possibly bring myself to just lose them.
"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
- Dr. Seuss
"You haven't lost your smile at all, it's right under your nose. You just forgot it was there."
"You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes."
- Pooh
"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are."
- Calvin and Hobbes
"We have no right to ask when a sorrow comes, 'Why did this happen to me?' unless we ask the same question for every joy that comes our way."
". . . imagine a puddle waking up one morning and thinking, 'This is an interesting world I find myself in, an interesting hole I find myself in, fits me rather neatly, doesn't it? In fact it fits me staggeringly well, must have been made to have me in it!' This is such a powerful idea that as the sun rises in the sky and the air heats up and as, gradually, the puddle gets smaller and smaller, it's still frantically hanging on to the notion that everything's going to be alright, because this world was meant to have him in it, was built to have him in it; so the moment he disappears catches him rather by surprise."
- Douglas Adams
"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best," and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.
-A.A. Milne
"The individual appears for an instant, joins the community of thought, modifies it and dies; but the species that dies not, reaps the fruit of his ephemeral existence." - Possession
"Courage is resistance to fear, mastery of fear - not absence of fear." - Mark Twain
"Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or to lose." - Lyndon B. Johnson
Wow. I am so LJ-happy these days. Apologize in advanced for the spam.
