Translation of Yamapi's article
To me, my family and friends are my treasures. My family is more important to me than anything else. And my friends also support me emotionally. For example, if you quarrel with your girlfriend, you might break up, but for friends that hardly happens. Even if you guys quarrel and don't talk to each other, you'd naturally talk to each other again. I have many of such friends. And of course my fans are a presence which I cannot do without. I am what I am now because of the support from the fans. I also respect the staff. In between drama recordings, they'd bring us chairs and coats. Even though we are all equals in producing the show, they still support those who appear on the show itself firmly. It’s really because of the staff that I am able to do my job.
NEWS members are my comrades. They are companions who share the same objective as me. Probably, every one of us has the same thoughts for the future. For example, when our CD reaches #1 on the charts, we all say "We did it!" and share the joy. I can call them companions only because it’s this six people. Especially during concerts, we work hard together. It’s a usual thing. There's no occasion where we don't work hard together.
The most memorable hand shake was when I was graduating from high school and I shook hands with my teacher. She was the form teacher for my third-year class. In front of her, we said "Why do we change form teachers at the very last minute!". So I think we hurt her feelings. But during the examinations she was always with us... It made us regret what we said previously.
The end of last year and the beginning of this year is usually a busy occasion for everyone, but there were still a lot of people who came to watch our concert and I sincerely felt happy about it. The view which you can only see when you stand on the stage of Tokyo Dome is really beautiful. It’s because we're all doing the same thing. During the countdown concert, the people born in the year of the Ox, Ushishi 4 *laughs*, wore the *Hakama, and changing quickly was difficult. We took about a minute to change into it. To wear a proper *Hakama in a minute is amazing.
* A Hakama is a type of traditional Japanese clothing
