I'd never heard of The Dreamers until you mentioned it (I still have 'One of Us' printed out and on my to-read pile, ready for when I finish 'A Game of Thrones', which is enormous, but very, very good, it turns out). It's another thing that I'm very intrigued about, although tragically my concentration spam seems to be good only for watching a 45 min TV episode :/. I've googled it though, and it looks, well, really lovely.

And I clearly need to get my arse in gear and watch The Borgias!

The lingerie in the 'Girls' icon is gorgeous ♥

I'm totally with you on not liking birthdays. I think I've pretty much hated and dreaded every one of mine since I was IDK in my early teens, I guess. I remember having birthdays I enjoyed when I was in primary school XD
And like you, I was particularly freaked out about my 20th birthday, because of the 'no longer a teenager' thing.

But oh my god, you're so young! Of course, I'm going to be 40 next birthday (oh god, kill me now :/) so I would say that. I can safely say though, that I've dreaded every one of my birthdays forever, and every one has made me feel oldoldold. But you never actually feel all that different, not really. I have no doubt at all that a lot of people in their 70s don't really feel old, not in themselves, where it really matters. Their bodies might be intent on telling them otherwise, but that's a different thing entirely.

So, what am I saying? I guess that it's totally natural to freak out over getting older, and that it, in fact makes not a hell of a lot of difference to how you actually feel. Oh, and that 21 is so young! Especially when you don't really have to be an adult really until you're at least 30 - and sheesh, I'm not convinced you have to grow up even then (I'm doing a fairly good job of avoiding it, I think :p).
Oh, and I know I've mentioned this before, but one good thing I've found about getting older is increased emotional resilience/equilibrium, which is really nice. That didn't kick in till my late 20s though, but everyone's different, so.

So just try and enjoy it, yeah? But don't feel too terrible if you don't. It's just a number!

ETA Did you ever check out Game of Thrones? I decided to read the book before I watch the series and that's taking me a while. It's very, very good though, and the series looks so pretty. I'm very much looking forward to finishing the book so I can actually watch it!
If you haven't checked it out and you'd like to, this post might be useful :)

Lol, I feel like I'm constantly adding stuff to your list of stuff to watch/read! I do recommend The Dreamers like a billion times over, and of course it would be lovely if you got around to reading One Of Us someday. I've mentioned this before I think, but I really do love the idea of you printing out my stories. I always just imagine that people read them on the screen and it's cool to think of them being read in different locations and stuff. Man, that one must have taken a lot of ink/paper though!!

I totally feel you on the concentration span thing. For ages I had that problem, where even during TV shows I would get super fidgety and have to be doing something else at the same time. This huge list of films to watch was building up and eventually I just forced myself to start watching them. It helps if they have subtitles because then you have no choice but to watch the screen if you want to know what's going on. XD I've mostly managed to get back into watching movies but I'm still struggling with reading books, which brings me to the Game Of Thrones question - I am interested in reading it, but like with the films before, I now have a huge stack of books to catch up with, so it'll probably be a while before I get around to it. It seems like a bigger investment than all the others I have lined up, so I don't want to end up getting sidetracked for ages reading the whole series. XD I did watch the show, though! I didn't love it, but I did watch the whole thing. It's definitely very pretty.

Thank you for the birthday/aging reassurance! Maybe I just need to hang out with people much older than me all the time so I constantly feel young. XD It's weird though, it's not really about feeling old, like you said - when I'm around younger people I don't feel any different to them. I think it's more to do with the expectations that come from growing up, because I'm not doing anything with my life etc and I feel like the older I get, the worse that becomes. But you saying you don't really have to be an adult until you're 30 is comforting. XD

Edit: Oh, and did you want me to pick some icons?

You say that like it's a bad thing! It's good to have a constant stream of new stuff to check out :)
(Partly I print stuff out to read because I like to read in the bath, and the dislike of electronics for water is pretty well documented XD. Also, though, I just prefer to read from paper than a computer screen. I don't know. Does that sound silly?)

Ach, subtitles! I used to be such a purist. If there was a choice between subtitles or a dub-track I'd always go for subtitles. Not now though. I just find it uncomfortable to focus that closely on the screen. Perhaps I should force myself to. It might help my concentration too.

A Song of Ice and Fire is definitely a major investment in time, considering the sheer size of it (IDK how many pages it is so far but it's 5 books of at least 800 pages each, so. What's that? 4000 pages odd, I guess). But it is a very easy, and very gripping, read. I say that only being about 500 pages through A Game of Thrones, but I haven't been so immediately taken with a book in a long time. (I'm finding it 'The Secret History' levels of compelling, if that means anything to you (I suspect it does :) - Talking of which, have you managed to take a look at 'The Little Friend' yet? ). In short, I'd definitely, definitely recommend A Game of Thrones. And well, there's really no need to read the whole of ASOIAF one after the other (unless you're feeling totally compelled to!).
I've been spoilered on a couple of the major deaths (including THE major one :(((() which is annoying, but hey ho. That's why I'm determined to have read book 2 by the time season 2 is out.

LOL Not so much of the 'much older', you XD. But then, I guess 19 years is a lot in anyone's book, so I'll let you off :D
The feeling that you should have achieved certain things at a particular age and feeling bad if you haven't is something I do sympathise with. All I can say, I suppose, is that everyone's different, and there's no right way to go about living your life. Also, I'm gonna repeat the whole 'you're so young!' thing, cos you really are! There's time, yeah? ♥

Well, I'd not really thought about doing the meme, but hell why not? :)

That's true! I just feel like it all might be piling up, haha. I don't think it sounds silly to prefer reading paper to a screen - I guess I read more on a screen these days so I'm used to it, but I do understand. Especially with fic, because it's a story, and you usually read stories on paper. :)

I basically refuse to watch something that's been dubbed, haha! Subtitles all the way! I know some people struggle with them though which is fair enough. But yeah, I did find that it forced me to just watch the movie and not do anything else, which helped my concentration a lot.

Yeah, that's the thing, it's so LONG. It's good to hear that it's easy to read though. Actually, looking at my bookshelf, there aren't THAT many books that I haven't read yet, but there are quite a few that I've been meaning to reread. Like, I want to reread all of the Harry Potter books, and also His Dark Materials, which will probably take me like a decade. XD But it's difficult when it comes to rereading, because I never know if I should wait til I've read the new things first or not. HMMM. Well, the first ASOIAF book is on my Amazon wishlist so I'm definitely keeping it in mind. :)

Hahaha, sorry, that was a bit cheeky! XD It doesn't FEEL like a lot, I just meant people who will see me as significantly younger. No offence intended, of course. ♥

Right, icons! :)

Happy Birthday!!!!
I hope you're having a really lovely day :)

I totally get you on there being books you want to reread. I started rereading Harry Potter last year but I'm only up to book 2 currently, and I'm definitely going to reread His Dark Materials. And there's at least 2 of my Tanith Lee series (Paradys and Tales from the Flat Earth) that need a second look. And that's ignoring everything else I haven't read yet. Too much! :/

Hilariously, out of 5 icons there are 3 there that I'm going to find kind of, ahem, awkward to explain. Damn good going when you had over a hundred to choose from XD.

(And don't worry, I really wasn't offended :) )

Thank you! Yeah, I did, it was good. :)

Lol, that's the thing, I just know that it'll take me forever to get through Harry Potter again. Although I was thinking, if I manage to have two books on the go at the same time, I could be sort of interspersing Harry Potter with other things.

Oh nooo, I'm sorry!! Totally unintentional, obviously. You could choose replacements and pretend I picked them. XD
