A/N: Idk if i really had writer's block for over a year or not....but i have written tidbits of random plot bunnies here and there over the 14 months i've been taking a hiatus from fanfics.  If i really did have a writer's block, I think it finally went away now~ I feel utterly happy to be back and writing. I wrote this a couple months ago and it's one of the tidbits i wrote that i actually think is decent.  I have great plans for this story....please welcome me back~ and if you haven't read my fics before my year of disappearance, than no worries, just please enjoy the beginning of this story~  Tell me your thoughts~ ^__^

Underneath the murky greenish water of the harbor, little schools of fish swim idly by, minding their own business until Heechul dangles a piece of string attached to a small red ball over the sloshing water underneath the bridge, watching as the shadow created by the little object attracts the attention of the tiny silver fish.  Heechul remembers when he was a little kid, nearly six or seven, and he used to be so easily amused, the amazement of the little ball always entertained him. Now, things weren’t all that different - just that it’s been over a decade and he’s wishing his life had always remained so simple and innocent, like before.

“Heechul, don’t look like that, you have to look happier to greet our guest,” his mother scolds.

Heechul rolls his eyes. “Yeah, I couldn’t care less,” he scoffs under his breath and turns away, distracted again. She gives him a dissatisfied look, but he chooses to ignore it.

It’s not till half an hour later when the familiar sound of the ferry’s horn pierces through the air that Heechul looks up from the distraction of his cell phone, and sees his parents heading towards the end of the dock.

Sighing, Heechul drags himself behind the pair, as slowly as possible so that within a couple moments, they are far ahead of him and he eventually gets too lazy to walk any further.

Halting at a spot nearer to the end of the dock where the ferry is making its stop, Heechul sits himself down on a bench and stares up at the sky, contemplating whether he’ll decide to be civilized to this stupid foreign exchange student or …not?  Of course, the latter plan sounds much more entertaining to him and he doesn’t take too long to make up his mind. Well, he thinks, it depends, though.

Upon hearing his father’s voice, Heechul begins to turn around as he hears him say, “Heechul, stop being rude to our guest, now, come and introduce yourself to Hangeng.”

Before he can turn all the way around, Heechul stops for a moment looks at the ground, muttering to himself, but loud enough for the three people near him to hear, “I thought it was Donghae. Did he suddenly change names?”

Heechul turns fully around to face the next victim of his bullying and is ready to plaster on his sarcastic smile, when something strikes him, something hot and scorching, wrenching his heart painfully and causing him to take a shaky step backwards.

In the blink of an eye, Heechul is no longer on the ferry dock with his parents and the student they are hosting, but he notices a very faint, yet disturbingly familiar smell surrounding him and growing stronger and stronger, becoming more and more suffocating by the second, and he gags a bit, his mind screaming at him to do something, because at that moment, Heechul realizes that he’s now standing in the midst of a forest. Trees surround him - tall, stretching toward the skies - redwood trees. A growl, suddenly. And before him, some kind of…demonic figure, eyes blazing yellow, catlike.  And Heechul realizes it looks like a lion - claws outstretched, ready to attack at a moment’s notice and Heechul feels his heart nearly falling out of his chest, it’s unbelievably rapid beats almost stopping as he stares at the thing in front of him for a couple more seconds, marveling at the glowing eyes, the floor length shimmery white locks of hair, and the blindingly white fangs covered in blood hanging from underneath its upper lip.  Gasping, Heechul takes a step back again and remembers the sudden pain in his chest, like a heart attack, but different.  It’s back now, crushing his heart into a disfigured shape and causing him to double over, unable to do anything further for the pain consumes him, eats him up whole and he doesn’t see anything else after a bright flash of white light, feeling his consciousness slip as he feels something sharp caressing his skin, a soft cushion softening his fall to the forest ground, and he realizes that claws are stroking his arm, and soft, delicate hair brushes against his face. Heechul wants to scream. Claws, the last thing on Earth he wants to felt up by. Then everything goes dark, as his mind registers the smell-sweet pine.

Ferry horns are honking for the last call of passengers to leave and be picked up as the sun beats down hard on the crowd at the end of the dock.  The smell becomes fainter now, and blinking, Heechul feels a tingle at the base of his neck.  Even though it’s in the middle of summer and he feels like a sweating pig, something inside him makes him shiver against his will.  The blue, endless sky greets him as he first blinks back into consciousness.

What the fuck just happened…? He thinks nervously to himself.

“Ah, Heechul! Are you okay?” Heechul hears his mom’s worried voice.

“Huh…what just happened?” he replies groggily, sitting up from the bench on the dock and feeling a slight blood rush.  His fingers are trembling.

“We should be asking you that,” says his dad, peering down at him.

“I don’t…understand.  All I remember is passing out for no reason,” Heechul lies. He doesn’t want to mention the insanely real and tangible dream that he had just moments earlier. Just absolutely too unbelievable and ridiculous to be true, he tries to convince himself.  It was just a dream right?  Just a dream…

“Sweetheart, I think you’re getting a heat exhaustion,” his mom suggests, placing a warm hand on his shoulder.

Heechul stands up now, still feeling a bit unstable as he does so and peers down toward the end of the bridge.  He sees a figure with short, messily cropped white hair. “I’ll be fine. Where’s the foreign exchange student?”

“I think we should head home now before you get worse,” Heechul’s mom argues worriedly.

“The kid’s down there looking out at the bridge. He’s got the white hair,” his dad replies, instead.

The first thing that comes out of Heechul’s mouth is, “He’s the one?! I … didn’t know he was going to…look like …that…” Heechul finishes off lamely and feels his mouth fall open in an ungraceful gape.  Heechul watches the tall and thin but well built boy turn around with a big smile on his face and black sunglasses to shield his eyes from the bright sun.  Heechul can’t help but notice how amazingly well the bleached white hair falls down over his eyes a bit, barely touching the boy’s shoulders in a messy bed-head style.  Just the way Heechul likes it…and he can’t help but imagine running his fingers through the flawlessly straight locks of hair.

“Heechul, this here is Hangeng. Hangeng, this is our son, Heechul,” his mom announces as the white haired-boy steps in front of Heechul and sticks out his hand in a friendly manner, almost as friendly as his huge smile.

Cautiously shaking his hand, Heechul peers up deliberately at the boy’s eyes, but unfortunately is unable to see much through the thick sunglasses.

“I…Hankyung,” the boy says with a heavy Chinese accent and Heechul wants to laugh, but instead is able to hold it in with a grin. The boy smiles wider at Heechul’s reaction to his introduction.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Heechul.”

As Hangeng lets go of Heechul’s hand, Heechul turns around to look at his parents and he says, “I thought the kid’s name was Donghae … or something like that? Why do we have some random Chinese kid?”

“Heechul! Don’t be rude!” he hears his mother hisses under her breath.

But Heechul only looks at his father to hear his reply, “Well, it was originally supposed to be Donghae, but something happened with the program just this morning when they called us and told us we were now looking for a boy named “Hangeng”, no longer “Donghae” since they did not arrange for anyone to host for Hangeng by accident.”

“Oh.”

Suddenly he hears Hangeng say sadly, “Heechul-hyung not like me?”

Heechul hides a smile and something inside him feels like it’s melting a bit. “No, no that’s not what I meant…” He glances comfortingly at Hankyung who’s face cracks open in another crooked grin, like a little kid.

“Alright, gang.  Now that the dramatic afternoon is ending. Let’s all go for ice cream! My treat for our newcomer!” exclaims Heechul’s dad happily. As they all agree and head back to the car, Heechul can’t help but notice that Hangeng is in fact, extremely well built - definitely more structured and toned than any other guy he’s ever met and he feels a slow tingle coil inside his stomach.

I guess the whole “civilized” thing will be reconsidered, then. Heechul texts Sungmin and adds the details of the white haired boy’s looks and feels himself want to smile again as they all pile on in the car.

It’s not until they get into the ice-cream parlor down the street and it’s not until Heechul and Hangeng sit down at a table near a window that Hangeng finally takes off his sunglasses.

And it’s not until that very moment that Heechul glances casually at the other and realizes something with a feeling of horror and sinking in his stomach.  Hangeng’s eyes are light hazel. Light enough that if he was to stand in the sun and look up, they would almost look yellow-- golden.

Like cat eyes.
