Day 28: Character You Love To Hate

Hmm, I had to think about this a bit. I've never been much for loving to hate characters. If I love them, it doesn't matter if they're kind of awful (see Amy). If I really hate them, then there's no residual love involved (see Mandy). There are some characters, though, that I love in some ways but really dislike in others, so I'm going with them.

Andy. Oh, poor Toby, and it's pretty much all her fault that I always feel the need to say "poor Toby" and want to give him a hug. One popular theory about the leak storyline is that Andy, who does have access to things as a Congresswoman, was the leak. I thought it was just my partner and I who believed that, but apparently others do, too. That theory actually makes her even more awful when she suggests that he blame his brother just because his brother was dead and an easy scapegoat. However, unlike Mandy, she is often fun to watch, and sometimes she and Toby are even cute before she crushes him, ruining all their scenes retroactively. And yet, she is played by Bird York, so I can't help but like her a little anyway.

Nancy McNally. There is a lot to like about Nancy McNally. The actress who plays her is neat, and she is often both a strong female character and really funny. But the way she treats CJ and Sam when they have opinions that she doesn't like is awful. In those instances she is so rigid and cold, I just can't stand her.

Also, Mallory. I like her and also don't, because while she is also often fun to watch, I don't enjoy her dynamic with Sam at all, and her resentment of her father is obnoxious, when all we ever see is him making an effort to connect with her and clearly loving her a lot. The actress is very good and I didn't hate her character or anything, but my opinion of her varies widely depending on which scene I'm watching.

And...an icon! Poor Toby. <3

Thanks for reading. :)
