Dad brain update

They've finally released Dad from the hospital, and he's up and about, with only the aid of cane to help him get about. All told, he's been very lucky through this whole thing. I had a talk with Dad's attending physician, a certain Dr. Schmdit. They decided not to close off the vessel because they wanted to observe the aneurysm for a while, and they felt it was a higher priority to manage the large clot that was apparently threatening to break loose inside it, instead. Most of the time Dad spend in the hospital was on some pretty strong clotbusting drugs, trying to get the sucker to dissolve.

Apparently, they were successful. ^_^

So, turns out I had guessed it right. Dad had thrown a clot into his left internal auditory Artery, which comes right off the basilar artery. This artery feeds the left inner and middle ear, and so Dad lost a lot of hearing and balance in that side. Part of his stay in the hospital was basically to reorient his balance in a controlled and supervised environment.

Anyway, all this and they're remodeling too. Hopefully, Dad will be able to resist the urge to go sticking his fingers into the light sockets and such.

Yeah... good luck with that. :P
