Given: at the core people are all the same in that they have needs and wants that if fulfilling they would be happy. Now if we, as in the human race, are the ultimate judge of our society then I believe that fulfilling our own needs takes precedence. This does not mean fulfilling every little need you have by quitting your job and going off and partying all the time. What it does mean is paying attention to fulfilling the needs of the human race.
To do this we need the raw materials to make the world work. Fulfilling the needs of people takes resources. Unfortunately resources are limited so as of now there is not enough to go around to everyone. Because of this the world has developed the mentality of the haves and the have nots. Once we can break through this wall of the haves and have nots when there is enough for everyone to be a have without others losing out because of it the world will be a much better place.
But not only do you have to provide for all 6,000,000,000 of us, we have to make sure we can hold on to it forever. To make sure this eventually occurs population must even out so it is simply easer on the world around us to provide the resources we need. In population dynamics there is something called a boom bust cycle where a species booms and then can no longer support itself so it busts. The human race may be a great example of such a species if we keep going the way we do. In this dissertation I plan to clarify what needs to be done on a large scale so that our society will eventually make its citizens as happy as possible.
