I arrived at the library 2 hours ago and have read A LOT since I've been here. I'm no where close to being able to draft a paper yet. Though just now in this very instant I think I've figured out how to do this. It won't get done today... when it's due... but I think I'm going to think of this as a presentation rather than a paper. First I'll organize it more like it's a powerpoint. At this point I'm going to be stretching this credit into next semester too... and taking a voluntary incomplete. The more I read the more it seems there are policies in place for some primary prevention of ptsd...lots for secondary and tertiary prevention. I wonder how many of them are used and what qualifies for example as an event to use (CISD) Critical Incident Stress Debriefing.
I find myself saying "Well surely they (the military) have training for/intervention etc...." and then searching and discovering that Yes, in fact they do have a program/training/educational materials/protocol for X. So I feel like I'm loosing a little ground ...or at least focus on what it is I'm trying to establish.
Things I'm looking into:
Stress Inoculation
Stress management traininghardiness and resilience
hopefullness
social support
and
explanatory style Well....I'm extra glad I made this post... b/c in the process of trying to find some links to share with you all (and myself) I just came across this:
Guide to Coping with Deployment and Combat Stress. It's an army publication.
And this which I'd found months ago but had forgotten about:
Battlemind training.
Yeah...so not ready to write this draft....
Also came across this today:
The Soldiers Project Must eat now. Then call prof and chat about progress.
Also... Mom and Frank arrive this afternoon. Liam is all wound up and ready for them to be here.
