if there is something i can join with you, let me know. i want to join some kind of class because im not getting any exercise these last couple months (trying to go to my school gym, but i always need the time to finish hw! and the open hours are very minimal).
I'll let you know! I'm not a gym-rat myself (if I didn't have a trainer, I'd NEVER go!) And if you are interested in taking something by yourself (sometimes I can't make the class schedule or something), you can email charly@cabiri.org (trapecia) to get on their mailing list. Don't worry, she doesn't spam - usually one large email with upcoming classes and performance dates/places. And Charly's classes are a VERY positive and encouraging atmosphere for learning this form of dance. I don't think I've ever been in such a consistantly supportive environment!
If you go through her, though, she will probably require the 2-week intoductory class. It's a good way to try it out without committing a huge chunk of time/money, and they are ALWAYS filled up quickly! You'd definitely want to be on the mailing list for that one.
I'm not sure how VA has their into classes set up specifically, although it looks similar. Plus I'm jonesin' on that whole "open studio" times offered during the weeks with a membership.
i want to take one of her classes sometime i think, but last time i read the description it said something about how you should already be in decent athletic shape, and that scared me off.
i am tenatively planning on sighning up for something around here soon (once spring classes start) but doing it with a friend would be much more fun :) unfortunately no one lives down here by me! you are probably the closest person for me to go to, hehe :)
I don't think she means you should be able to bench-press your body weight and run a marathon - but you should be an active, healthy person who is not a bon-bon-eatin' couch potato. But that's why the 2-week intro classes are good - if it doesn't work for you, you're not out $100+ and several weeks of committment
