Research 101

Sep 11, 2008 19:16

You know, it's strange when you're met with a project that requires you to research, yet you have no idea what topic to pick. I have several to write about, perhaps some of you can help me figure out what I should write about.

It's for my English class. The topic can be about -anything- we write about just as long as we provide sufficient research and examples to support our paper.

Some of my examples:

-Point/Counterpoint on Nuclear Energy
~Write about the benefits and hazards about Nuclear Energy.

*Interesting fact: Nuclear waste consists, majorly, of Iodine-129. Scientists are working to use lasers to transmute Iodine-129 into Iodine-128, thus reducing it's half-life TREMENDOUSLY.

(The Half-Life of a quantity whose value decreases with time is the interval required for the quantity to decay to half of its initial value)

Iodine-128 has a half-life of nearly 25 minutes. Which means it takes 50 minutes for it to completely decompose/dissipate.

Iodine-129 has a half-life of nearly 16 million years... do the math.

-Gas/Oil prices
~Write about a cause/effect on the war and how it's really affecting gas prices.

-Alternative Energy Exploration
~Write about other ways of producing means of energy to use in our day-to-day lives.

-Drilling
~Write about the pros and cons of drilling in the Arctic for more oil.

Other than that, I'll try to see about figuring out what I want to write about. If you have any other suggestions and wish to contribute to building upon my knowledge... let me knoooow ploxkthx. :3
