Open to those who have a reason!

Monday mornings. Most people probably didn't look forward to those as much as Lilith did. Although, really, she was just looking forward to doing something productive instead of worrying about her friends. That was the main reason she was dressed, preened to perfection, and walking into the building that held the Witch Weekly offices at barely ( Read more... )

Skylar had been running late that morning, her schedule still all messed up from being off most of the previous week. She was going to blame the after effects of the potions rather than the fact that she had hit her snooze button about six times ( ... )

It was barely mid morning and already Lilith wanted to go home or out to get blindingly drunk. Ever since the first people arrived on the scene she had been answering questions. Unfortunately she didn't have many answers for her coworkers or the aurors, just a vague description of the man who had almost knocked her over on her way in that morning.

Looking up at the sound of Skylar's voice, she noticed the coffee before she processed the other woman's words and looked at her properly. "Break in apparently. I walked in to... Well, this. Except without the people." Lilith sighed, looking around them. "Make the most of your coffee. Now you are in I don't think you're getting out without being questioned."

Skylar raked her hand through her hair, watching everyone buzz about around them. Everyone seemed just as shocked or confused as she did, not understanding what anyone could want with fashion photographs or 'The Latest Trends' archived documents.

Though, from the look of her office, she had a sinking feeling that they were looking for something very specific.

"So I guess it's not just my office that looks like a tornado hex blew through?" she groaned, gripping her coffee tighter. It was even that good. "Was anybody here when it happened?"

Shaking her head minutely, Lilith unconsciously bit her lip before replying. "No, not just your office. All the editors' offices are the worst hit ones though." She explained, crossing her arms. This was all so ridiculous. At least her office had been pretty much spared, a stylist apparently not being of interest, but it still felt like an attack on her as well.

"No-one was around as far as I could see. I couldn't find anyone at least. They think I must have walked in just after it happened."

"Thank Merlin you didn't get here any sooner. Who knows who was here-" she told her, wondering just what kind of person (or people) they were dealing with. They had to have spent a few good hours blowing through this place.

"Who the hell would break in a magazine office?"

"I wish I knew!" Life would be simpler if they knew already. "Although maybe not, people are already jumping on the 'aren't you worried that he knows you saw him' bandwagon, all because someone bumped into me on my way into the building." Rolling her eyes, Lilith took a few steps to perch on the edge of a desk. "All I'm worried about is a headache."

That was something that Skylar hadn't even thought about. After all, they really had no idea who they were dealing with here. Lilith could have very well bumped into the man that had caused all of this chaos.

"Did you even get a good look at him?" she asked, a part of her hoping that she didn't. If Lilith hadn't paid him any attention at all, then she would have no reason to worry.

Lilith shrugged off the thought. "Not that good, it was pre-caffeine, I didn't even notice him until he hit me, so I can recall as much as anyone would in that sort of thing. Vague description, clothes of course, I didn't recognise them as someone I knew already."

It was strange enough, though, somebody leaving the building at nine in the morning rather than rushing into it. That should have been enough to be set off.

"Hopefully it helps-" she sighed. Skylar took a long sip of her coffee, wishing she had just gone the extra two blocks now.

"I guess we're going to be out of the office for a few days though. Crime scene and all that?"

"News I'm sure some will be thrilled to hear, but it just makes my job twenty times harder. We'll all have so much more to do." She sighed, already having tried to work out the logistics of it. "Plus I didn't exactly come into work at seven this morning just to work from home or not even be able to work. I could have been at the hospital."

Skylar frowned, knowing how close Lilith was with both Daphne and Pansy, who had made very little progress this last week. It seemed wrong for her to have to sit around here when she could have been sitting around over there.

"You know- I'll help cover whatever you need when we're up and running again," she offered.

"Thanks..." She said softly, briefly meeting Sky's eyes and then looking down at her hands. "I'd rather be wading through office politics than waiting for news though if I had the choice." She'd done her spell, sitting at the sides of her friends as they lay in those hospital beds, talking to their sleeping forms. She needed the distraction from wondering if they would wake up. Still, she'd rather be there worrying than sitting here doing it.

"I don't do sentimental very often, so drink it in while you can, but I'm glad you weren't hurt any worse than you were."

"Don't worry about me," Skylar said, shaking her head. She didn't want to be deemed a hero or be tossed any sympathy over it- not when there were two women laying unconscious in St. Mungo's.

"I'll just be here for whatever you need. I'd be out of my mind if it was Jemma or Ava-"

"Why couldn't you have said this before you came in? I might have thought to owl you early enough to bring me coffee." Lilith joked to lighten the mood. "Do you think we can find a way to get the aurors to let us out?"

"This?" Skylar held up her cup, shaking it around a little bit, "Trust me, this is garbage-"

Then she looked around, noticing them bustling around them. A few offices were taped off.

"Maybe? I'd love to get out of here."

"Good luck with that. I'm surprised they haven't already taken you aside to question." After all, her office was one of those thoroughly trashed. "Quick, fake a medical emergency and insist on taking me with you, before I attack someone due to my need for good coffee."
