So I went to see my aunt today, who is back in her place. She's
only back in her place because the insurance company has stopped paying
for the rental apartment, not because it's actually done, or
anything. At her request, I went over my apartment writing stuff
down that the contractor needs to attend to before she'll sign the check,
and tomorrow, I'll go over her apartment with her doing the same
thing. This is the stuff I found:
Back Entry Hallway
1. Floor by outside door needs caulking between edge of linoleum and doorsill.
2. Wall between outside door and door to 1st floor apartment damaged by door handle. (Doorstop needed.)
3. Door to first floor apartment sticks. Top of door needs to be planed.
4. Door to first floor apartment: dents in wall on right side of doorframe. Should be filled and painted.
5. Light switches next to outside door don't work.
6. Bannister not reattached.
7. Tub plumbing is exposed; no access panel was made to cover it.
8. Window at top of stairs is painted shut.
Second Floor Rear Apartment
1. No electricity
2. No hot water
Entry/Hall
1. Doorbell missing, wires exposed. The doorbell worked.
2. Linen cabinet: shelves removed, but not painted, and not replaced.
3. Linen cabinet: paint/tape peeling.
4. Linen cabinet: hole in drywall at back of cabinet.
5. Linen cabinet: bottom section, left wall - drywall removed, but not replaced.
Computer Room
1. Window painted shut.
2. Paint on window (glass).
3. Baseboard not painted.
Living Room
1. Paint cracked in corner.
2. Baseboard paint uneven.
3. Bubbles in paint on the wall shared with the kitchen.
Kitchen
1. Lower cabinets not painted. Upper cabinets painted poorly.
2. Windows painted shut.
3. Outlet with switch removed, but not replaced; wires exposed.
4. Baseboard MISSING.
5. Paint peeling on wall and ceiling (work/eating area).
Bedroom
1. Holes in wall unrepaired
2. Baseboard removed, but not painted and not replaced.
3. Windows painted shut.
Bathroom
The bathroom walls were substantially damaged by the
firefighters. They needed to be replaced, including part of the
tub surround. They were replaced. So was everything else in
the bathroom: the tub itself, the toilet, the sink, the light
fixtures, and the floor. (I didn't notice if the medicine
cabinet was replaced as well, but it may have been.) There was
nothing visibly wrong with any of them. The one change to the
bathroom that I requested - adding a folding door, did not
occur.
*sigh*
