whoa whoa who said i got Cs all through high school? that is not true. here's the progression: freshman year i did not do well at all. i got an F one quarter in English, but I think my final grade was a C something... i got a lot of Cs freshman year but at the end of sophomore year i snapped out of it. junior year i got mostly b's, the occasional C+ and A-, and by senior year i don't think i got any Cs except for like math classes or science (not my strong points).
i know everyone will tell you this but it's true: colleges want to see that you are somewhat well-rounded and if you did really poorly your first year or two of high school, that you've turned it around and started hitting the books. i was lucky and had amazing teachers who scooped me up and made me realize that yes i COULD be a good student and i AM smart... sure, i failed english one quarter freshman year but senior year i was in AP and getting As... it's that kind of stuff. it also helped that i was involved in extracurricular stuff (french club, chorus, newspaper), that kind of stuff really does look good. you're a junior, right? it's not too late to start being awesome. i wish you had a couple of amazing teachers like i did to grab you and shake you and make you realize that you're really smart... just start doing your work!! and feel free to call/email me whenever if you need help or advice.
now... i must write an analysis of a french poem, search for more scholarly articles about americans in paris in the 20s, finish my essay for a national fellowship that would send me back to france for a year, read a book by toni morrison, and do my spanish homework... (senior year of college is a synonym for death :)
