Sumara was in her room getting dressed to go to the park. It wasn't going to be any regular trip there because she was going to practice her routine for the upcoming local gymnastics competition. She hasn't been able to get in as much practice as she wanted since her life at home and at school have been really busy, but now that the competition was getting closer, she had to set aside as much time as she could. Her mom had to work later than usual the last few nights, so she had to practice her already planned out routine without her.
Since her mom seemed to be at home less, Sumara still hasn't found the time to tell her about the incident on Thanksgiving. She still wasn't sure if she should because the house seemed to have calmed down since that day and she hasn't really heard her parents fight. That might have been due to the fact her mom wasn't around enough lately, but Sumara still took it as a good sign even though it could just mean a hold off for a bigger blow up later.
Once finished getting ready, Sumara walked to the door and noticed that her father wasn't home yet. She just figured he got held up at the school for some meeting or conference. Once out of her house, she ran to her destination knowing the route to the park very well by now. She even brought her camera with her this time, so she could take some pictures of the scenery once she got there. When she arrived at the park, it was already getting dark, but that just meant that she had to be more careful. It would actually help her in the fact that she would have to know her moves by memory and not by site. She just hoped that she didn't run into anything on the way, but it's not like getting hurt was something new to her.
First she took some pictures so she could still have some light. She loved scenery shots because it was a way to capture nature and she liked putting them together later in a scrapbook or album. Once she was done taking her last shot, she stretched a little before actually beginning her routine. She wasn't too concerned if there were people out there watching her because she was used to that type of attention. As she was doing her backbends, flips, handsprings, and other moves all she was focused one was completing each movement fluidly and with style. Nothing was around her and anyone in the park at the time was not there to her.
Everything was going great until she got to the no-handed cartwheel and instead of landing safely on two feet, she tripped over an unseen branch and twisted her right foot a little. As she was on the ground, she started to rub her foot lightly ,cringing a little at the pain. It wasn't unbearable since worse has happened to her, but it that didn't mean it still didn't hurt. She slowly got up and slightly limped her way to the nearest bench, the one she was at the last Thursday she was here. For some reason, fate kept leading her to that spot.
When she got to the bench, she elevated it for a while, letting it rest before she had to head back home. She knew it wasn't that bad just a slight sprain, but it would take a couple of days to completely heal. This was the last thing she needed at this moment with everything else going on. She knew she just had to deal with it and had to tell herself that she has been through worse and made through it fine and still ended up winning. After a few minutes of resting, she slowly got up and started limping her way back home. A few steps into it, and she knew that it was going to be a long walk back.
