Gaylord was asked to be a judge at the Chili Cookoff during the local Winterfest, so the kids and I tagged along. To be honest, it couldn't compare to a Belfast festival but at least it got us out of the house for a bit.
Face-painting, which presented a problem for Alex who was used to the amazing talent of the artists who painted his face at all the festivals in Belfast.
Alex: Can I be Spiderman?
Lady: I can do a snowflake.
Alex: Can I be Hulk?
Lady: I can do a star.
He sighed really big and said "Can I be a stupid snowman?"
Lady: Uh, ok.
Rebecca cracks me up, she has a bit of a sweet tooth, (No idea where she gets that? hahaha) so was thrilled when she saw a sign that said "Free Cake Walk". She dragged the boys over there and started walking. Of course she won right away and ran over to the table and tried to pick up a cake but was stopped by the lady who told her the prize was a cookie, the cakes were for sale. "But it says it's a CAKE walk...not a COOKIE walk!" That's my girl. :-P
She was content with her cookie however, and kept walking in the game while her brother's played which was a good thing because they never won, she ended up winning two more times and gave her cookies to her brother's so they wouldn't feel so bad (She has her moments.) and said "I know how to get treats, my sweet tooth led me to the right numbers!" :-P
There was also a booth where you could watch snowshoes being crafted.
And temporary hair dye:
And a carriage ride though the snow.
But the real fun was the next day when Gaylord pulled Jason and the kids around in the sled behind the tractor!
Jason even talked me into coming outside too, in my PJ's no less, and took me for a thrilling ride. ;-P
