The Start of Something Bigger?

Feb 24, 2022 21:13

The news lately is more bleak than I thought it would get. As a millennial in America, things haven't been easy on some levels. I don't have a leg to stand on really as a white, formally lower-middle, now middle class woman. I grew up watching 9/11 and feeling the effects on New Jersey. The War on Terror then dragged on for way too long for made up reasons. The economy collapsed in 2006 and it took years to recover (if you can call it that). Global warming isn't getting any better. We've been watching for years as black Americans are murdered by cops. As white supremacists hunted down and killed AAPI and Jewish people. We watched school shootings reach astronomical numbers and not a fucking thing happened. Now, Russia is invading Ukraine. Florida is trying to pass the Don't Say Gay bill and Texas wants people to report parents of trans children for child abuse while they send bounty hunters after people who seek abortions for ANY reason at all. I'm disgusted. I'm exhausted. I'm confused and don't know what action(s) I can take or should even try to take. I'm sorry.

Day 22:
Robyn "Body Talk"
Favorite Track(s): "U Should Know Better", "Dancing On My Own"

I was introduced to Robyn in the 90s because she was on All That. I loved that song ("Show Me Love"). A lot of people tell me I'm crazy when I tell them that fact. I remember when "Body Talk" came out. People were blown away. I was happy to have more new Robyn tracks. They all blew previous stuff I had heard out of the water. The dance beats are fun and infectious. The lyrics are perfect. They convey simple messages but ones that we don't always hear. Or she sings about things you need to hear. Dance it out while your heart breaks.
