Happy 4th Day of Christmas!

I like the concept of the 12 days of Christmas. It means I can still enjoy my Christmas music. So, to reflect back on my Christmas Break, since it's been awhile. Break began on a happy note, with the assembly at school on Tuesday. Getting to pie teachers is always a good thing. :)

Then Krista and Maureen came over. We went ice skating and then tried to watch all 3 LOTR Extended Editions. Had we started earlier in the day, we might have succeeded, but as it was, Krista and I succumbed to the temptation of sleep and only Maureen saw the 3 in their entirety. However, we discovered that the cast commentary is highly amusing! (Tig tog!)

Saturday was Christmas Eve. My church put on our traditional service, which was beautiful. I must say that small children can be very cute and funny when they are sitting in front of the church with battery-powered candles. Afterwards, we all attended the traditional Christmas Eve party at Carol's, where we had slightly more excitement than usual with a visit from the emergency squad, but happily everything turned out alright.

Christmas morning was great! About 55 people came to church, which isn't too bad. But back to the Christmas presents. People realized that I like penguins, so I received "March of the Penguins" on DVD, the companion book to the movie, and a stuffed penguin, all of which made me exceedingly happy! However, I was most excited about...my iPod!! Great thanks to my parents! Now here's the really exciting part:

You might not be able to see that, but that is my iPod playing "March of the Penguins"!!! The resolution really is great, though the picture doesn't show it. Haha, with 60 GB of storage, I can put lots and lots of movies on it, along with music! I plan to put all 3 LOTR on it. Just because I can.

Yesterday, I went to the holiday party for local alumni, current students, and prospective students and got to talk to current students to see what MIT is really like. It's definitely still my first choice! When I got home, I tried to bake the chocolate chip cookie batter that I made earlier, but the cookies wouldn't come out right. "Martha Stewart's Favorite Cookies," they were called, but she must have left something secret out of her recipe. We also speculated that my use of margarine created problems, since margarine is mostly water. Anyhow, I added extra flour and they turned out much better. I am currently baking the rest of the batch. Cookies make me happy. :)
