I don't think Bush did much after 9/11, it seems to me he only took advantage of people's anxiousness to invade when it wasn't exactly necessary. Osama Bin Laden is still alive, and we've traded a shot at him for a war to spur patriotism, which is very superficial. It's only as deep as the price a ribbon magnet cost, with the exception of people like you who have actually given something.

He talks about "reform" and such, but the hurricane and his poor planning as well as support of failure (see Brown) reflect his actual committment to people that aren't in his elite circles. It took the deaths of many to bring him out of the longest break in presidential history.

While one of the effects of the invasion, the removal of a dictator, is positive, the aftermath isn't so great. We're still there, and we have control of their economy and we are profiting wildly from it.

When Cheney took head of Halliburton in 95, he promised not to trade with Baghdad. But a war on terror was sacrificed for money. The profits we gave them fueled Hussein's weapon funds and his palaces, the same ones we criticized. Oops, we helped pay for them.

So while the war had some positive side effects, the motives and profits right now are discouraging.

Just a thought, I couldn't not reply.
It'd be nice to back our nation's leader and his motives, but my heart's just not in it.
