In the first few months of school, I was in awe of the accepting atmosphere, the lack of apparent cliques, and the kind and sympathetic student body. About halfway through the year, I began to see...exceptions... Only recently have I realized that it really isn’t so great and accepting and nice.

I think the majority of people know that what they’re doing is wrong, mean, and/or ignorant, but instead of changing what they’re doing, they try to hide it by talking about what’s right. Our country though the media, has realized what the right things to do are. We’ve even gotten as far as actually talking about the “right thing” incessantly. The next step is to actually do it. In my opinion, it’ll be quite some time before that happens. It may never happen. We might not be able to escape our human tendencies.

Recently, certain people who I never thought would say or do something have said or done it. It kind of shakes my faith in our school, our town, and our society in general. For me, it’s pretty disappointing to find that the seemingly “deep” school of “substance” really is just like every other high school. It’s just like hannahrifka said, we’re simply good at hiding our faults. It’s too bad really...

Basically, I completely agree.
