Oooh, intriguing. Please continue!

I don't know about concrit, but I just have to say I love the way you've got their body language just right. Sam with his arms crossed, looking uncomfortable in the doorway. Gene with his paper and his feet up. It's very them. :)

I really admire your courage to take on something like this! You've got a distinctive style and you've captured the spirit of the show really well. I'm enjoying this! So keep at it.

So yeah, I really *love* some graphic novels, your point? *g* draycevixen December 8 2007, 00:59:11 UTC
Again, I'm really taken with the details, just enough to set the scene but not too many to crowd the panels... the newspaper on the desk, the cigarettes and ashtray in "Lost and Found." Lovely.

I also really like your framing choices. For instance, when Sam tries to talk to Gene who just looks at him as he tries to speak -- Making that interaction a couple of small stacked panels really shows the interaction, like the close-up cuts in a film. Of course you repeat this technique to good effect.

I also like the mirroring of body language that *really* emphasises the relationship that is only hinted at in those small panels. Like in the 9th panel when they both have their heads cocked to the left. Nice, very nice.

Thank you and I look forward to more.

Psst! Morgue, there's a typo...

D'Oh! I knew that looked funny when I posted this. Ah, well.

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad you like the details because I enjoy putting them in! The little details was one of the things that I love about the show itself, it does so much to create an atmosphere.

Heh heh! Thanks! It's all hints with those two. I wish I could take credit for the panel with the two of their heads cocked, but to be honest that was taken from a screencap directly from the show! I use screencaps a lot for reference in this story, and every once and a while you find one that fits so perfectly in the context of the rest of the story, just like that one.

This is absolutely wonderful - a very intriguing story and very good artwork! I love the detailing in the backgrounds, and the way that you set panels up is very clean and reminiscent of comics of the era - no splash pages or ingrained panels like are found in graphic novelizations today - it really makes it feel like 1973, in so many ways. There is a typo in panel 20, "morge" should be "morgue," but I can't find any others... You really do have a great talent, and the tie-straightening in panel 3 captures Gene's body language perfectly.

Thanks! I'm glad you like the more traditional panel set-up, I was worried people would find it too boring!. I'm with you, I can't stand splash pages and the such. They're good every once and a while to make an effect, but not every page.

Thanks again for the comment!

PS: Completely off-topic, but will we be getting a new Jabberwocky chapter soon? I'm going through withdrawls... ;-)

Definitely - I love Alan Moore's Promethea, but the layout in that book is maddening! Maddening, I tell you! Every issue, nothing was ordered in a sensible fashion...

And there will definitely be more Jabberwocky soon - work has been a bit hectic of late, so I've barely had time to pop in and catch up on comments and such, plus I've had a few short fics to finish that I promised a few people, but I swear, I haven't given up on it, and I'm really hoping on having a lot more posted by the end of December (at least five parts, I hope). The big project at work is nearing completion, so I should have more time soon... Sorry abotu the wait...

Butting in... sorry! draycevixen December 10 2007, 17:13:10 UTC
Of course Moore probably isn't responsible for the lack of frames. :D I'm a huge fan of both "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and "V for Vendetta" both loaded with beautiful frames. "V for Vendetta" is one of my personal favourites as I love David Lloyd's work -- so much to look at in every frame, so much expressed by body language.

*butts out*
