Lifeguarding/Instructing
Hey All,
So I have bitched and complained about how my city pays it's instructors and guards shit, and that we are one of the lowest paid cities in Ontario. Well I was thinking about it today, after having a few conversations with my father, that I am pretty much a hypocrite if I complain but do nothing about the situation. So, talking it over rationally with some of my fellow guards tonight, I came to the decision that I will do something about this whole thing. I, along with a friend of mine who is also a guard/instructor are going to find out what at least 25 other cities in Ontario start their minimum wage out as for guards/instructors. We are going to compare the results to our city, then present it at a City council meeting and if that doesn't work, then get a petition going to negotiate our wages. I want to make a difference in our city for my friends and fellow guards/instructors who are underpaid for what we do.
So I ask anyone out there that may be reading my journal to help me out if you live in Ontario, Canada.
Please post in here which city you are from, and what the minimum wage/starting wage is for instructors/guards. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am also posting this plea in some lifeguarding communities.
