The Dark is Rising Sure as Hell!
Did you see (one of the) latest FanLib idiocies? Walden Media and 20th Century Fox have decided to participate in the violation and mutilation of Susan Cooper's "The Dark is Rising" series from the seventies through a film version by David L. Cunningham. In this film about every vital feature of the books is trashed to mud and substituted with cheap teen-soap bubbles - beginning with moving the setting from very 70ies England to USA, making the young hero Will Stanton a two years older 13 and occupied with girls, messing with Will's family...
Anyway, FanLib is of course interested in joining forces and organizing a contest http://www.walden.com/fanlib/entryform.php. How to enter? "Watch the trailer and read about the characters below..." You can, of course, try the books too, but why bother... : they are still dreaming of the 13year-old boys as a target fandom consumers and writers!
