Good weekend. Learned a lot about people I thought I knew. Some not so good, some better than expected, but none of it resulting from myself, so whatever. Today was literally hot as balls. My campers were as determined as ever to spend all day running around hard core, but it was legitimately dangerous. After popsicles and a dozen water breaks not doing the trick, we resumed our standard fall back of an all out water war. I had every intention of staying mostly dry, but when Chris got me with some risidual water "meant" for another camper, I had to strike back and let him know where I stand. After a few missed water balloons on both our parts, we moved on to more serious measures. For the next hour or so we proceeded to pretty much beat the crap out of each other with a hose that changed power more times than Paris Hilton changes boyfriends (ba dum dum). We battled for power of the nozzle while making kinks in the hose so the fighter would not succumb to the overwhelming strength of hose bearer. I got the nozzle once for a brief period and launched an all out soak fest on his ass with the maximum power wash, although he quickly regained it through some tricky moves and my slippery hands. I got it back again when in the midst of another tackle attempt I was able to unscrew the nozzle and use my thumb to create my own stream of death and soak him again. Cate came and was able to help my cause but called neutrality for herself when she donned a beach towel. In the end, we were both dripping wet and rinsing out our shirts from the grass and pine needles that had splashed up during the war. I had the kids on my side but their weapon of choice was a giant cooler they tried to fill from the water fountain and wasn't exactly the most maneuverable thing ever, so it was easily defeated. After shaking off like dogs and ringing out the rest of our clothes we dried off disturbingly fast in the heat and swore to continue in the future...I'm thinking tomorrow. I guess the high 90s aren't that bad after all.
