*raises an eyebrow*
Today, No Other One was added to the Horatio and Kyle C2 group on fanfiction.net. I clicked out of curiosity, and this is the group's self-described charter: "The one thing Horatio has always wanted is a son. For all of the Horatio and Kyle stories that have you saying one word: awwww!"
Very clearly the maintainer of the community hasn't dipped a pool in my NOO pool. Cause in that... Horatio, I don't think, wanted a son. And certainly in canon, just as he's willing to step into the role of father, he's also just as willing to abdicate himself from that situation. In the very least, NOO!Horatio wrestles with the idea of parenting and what that means - and he's very quick to understanding that Kyle's presence is gonna fuck his current family situation up to the high heavens.
And as for Kyle, he's not exactly Horatio's biggest fan. When the truth does come out, it's totally not going to be "aww!" Which isn't to say it will be the stereotypical recalcitrant teenager getting all angry and stuff, because... Kyle is nothing if not resourceful. And in the end, I think that might just make things way worse.
Frankly, and I've told
keeper_of_stars this, I'm afraid that those two will never be able to have a healthy relationship. Hell, Yelina and Ray have the most normal interactions, and even that is just... one giant mess on some levels, as we shall hopefully see.
So... while I'm glad to be C2ed, I'm a bit dismayed that the person who did so clearly has... either not read my fic or has no understanding of what I'm going for here. Which sucks.
But that said, NOO is my choice for NANOWRIMO. And today I wrote 2449 words -- which means I'm just shy of being 5% done, :-)
It makes me wonder what I could accomplish if I did this every day. And then I push that thought aside and go back to watching my O.C. DVDs. ;-)
