Poe's computer has been freaking out. My attempts to fix it just killed it completely.
It was crashing after getting hot and not booting up until it cooled down. (Primary video card would go blank and lock up.)
Temp check showed the voltage regulator and ambient running very hot. CPU was as expected.
Air intake vents on the bottom for the power supply and the case were totally clogged with dust. Cleaning helped the temperature, but had no effect on the problem.
Finally installed the CPU water cooling system. Mage a HUGE difference in temperature. But did not fix the problem. The radiator fans on the water cooler are LOUDER that the case fans they replaced WTF? I need to fix that too.
Tried swapping around video cards, unplugging components, flashing bios. Weird random errors. Bios was reset and some of the necessary overclock adjustments for the memory were no made.
Tried a different video card. Seemed to be ok... the video card got VERY hot and the PC shut off.
Now it won't stay on to fix bios setting, shutting off in the bios configure screen. If it boots at all.
Sometimes it turns on, turns off, turns on... endlessly.
Possible culprits:
CPU Overheat
Power Supply
Mother Board
Memory
Bad CPU
Bios settings
Tests: Try these and see if one of them is stable (stays on)
CPU Overheat - Check heat sink (DONE - not likely bios shows CPU at 35 C)
Power Supply - boot with only CPU and one memory stick. Try another power supply.
Bios settings - check requirements try to fix before crash
Bad CPU - boot with CPU power cord disconnected
Memory - try booting with each stick one at a time
Mother Board - boot with board out of case completely (shorts or flex issues)
