I have been working with the CNC set up. I managed to get the program running in a XP dos shell. This makes things a lot easier. I can alt-tab out to make changes to the model and print codes without having to reboot and reset everything.
Here is a test print I did last night.
The Screen shot is of the in-game model
The render is the actual model without the graphic skin
The cut image is the preview from the CNC software
Actual Print
Dalaran Shiled 001 The material is MDF (Medium density fiberboard)
It is cheep, but makes a lot if dust and has a fuzzy texture when cut. But makes a good (cheep) material for testing draft prints.
I might be able to minimize the fuzziness by playing with the bit RPM and cut speed, but I don't think it is worth it. The idea of a draft print it to make one quickly (and cheaply) so I can test for any mistakes and make tweaks before setting up a longer detailed print.
It was cut on a upgraded MaxNC10CL.
Using a 1/4" bit for a rough cut, then a 1/8" bit for a course cut.
Total set up and cut time about 3 hours. Though with practice it would be more like 2
